Devere had his moments but surely you cant class him in the same league as tangata toa or chris orr

depends on criteria if using value for money i might agree with the poster.

Certainly in recent years De Vere has been one of our best.

de vere only 6 tries in 36 appearances

but brought good defence and kicks.... value for money??

De Vere wasn't a try scoring machine - he was a defensive player and thats where people have him down as a bad player for us, maybe they were expecting a free flowing all conquering try scoring supremo to land in the UK - anyone who knew De Vere as a player knew what to expect from him and he delivered that expectation.

he also brought years of experience and class as a top aussie/soo/nrl player from which our players gained a hell of a lot.
he was a class act and anyone who cannot see that can't be very knowledgable about the game

And the year that he played inside Martin Aspinwall MA was our top try scorer. You only become top try scorer playing outside a good centre.
