| seeing a big hard bloke like him laid on the field, not moving, almost in tears and screamin in pain and having oxygen makes you realise that every single player who plays this game for our entertainment risk serious injuries every time they take to the field.............i hope Luke makes a full recovery from this.....Get well soon LOD.

| Quote: kingsway cat "I suspect that the lad just didn't rupture his ACL.
Like has been said previously, an injury that requires gas and air is generally worse than that.
And before people say what do I know...I have ruptured and re-ruptured my ACL as well as taking out the MCL and posterolateral corner ligament in the process. I never needed gas and air for that and I am a pussy!'"
Same but if i had the option of oxygen i would have taken it wouldnt you?!
ACL reconstructions are one of the hardest things to come back from and the liklihood of a reoccurence following this is high. Realistically if he does require a recon he will probably be out for the next 7-9 months. Fingers crossed his scan comes back better than we all think.

| I wouldn't say the likliehood of a re-occurance after an operation is high. Lots of players have come back from such operations without any relapse.
What is does do though is take some mobility away and as has been seen with Kirmond and Hodgson you lose a bit of pace. O Donnell though should be ok in this aspect as you cannot lose what you don't have in the first place.

| Little Ivor had an ACL reconstruction. From operation to playing was 6/7 months - and he didn't have the rehab available to professionals. As far as I can tell, he hasn't lost any speed.
[Perhaps if he reads this he will comment.]

I dont think it is ever classed as being as strong as original but it all depends on the rehab, is it gasnier or someone similar in the NRL that has had 3 ACL Recon's?!

| Yeah Brent Tate did his in the four-nations final last year, I remember the commentators saying that it was potentially a career ender for him.

| I'm sure I saw Luke wandering around the pitch with Paul Watson before the game at the Willows. Climbed some steps in the stand without any probs and didn't look to have any hint of a limp. Now this may mean naff all in the scheme of things but he seems to have come a long way from having gas and air.

Sound positive. Any one in the know confirm TBCs sighting?

| I don't think it's necessarily indicative that things aren't really serious though so, whilst not wanting to be a party pooper, it doesn't mean an operation and subsequent period of extensive rehabilitation have been avoided. Would be great if it was!

yes he was walking round fine with watson before the game
but this is prob because hes not had his op yet!
what was more of a surprise is why watson didnt seem to be involved with the warm up or taking the instructions onto the pitch like he usually does... was left to jammer

Hence my comment of it maybe meaning naff all. Can Littte Ivor comment on this as he's had an ACL reconstruction?
If not Little Ivor come in Big Ivor.

| LI's happened Decemberish, I think. After the initial injury wore off, he could walk without any discomfort, he just couldn't turn on his knee. He had to wait 6 months before he had surgery, so perhaps his wasn't as bad as LOD's.
I'll ask him to comment though [IF I remember!!]
