M1 then as you head towards Chiswick roundabout go up the kew bridge road to Richmond then hit the a 316. The usual route on Twickenham road is a nightmare at the moment. Save you 30 minutes.

I always go round the M25. I tried through London once & it was an absolute nightmare.
Should hit the 25 slightly after the worst time though!
Can't offer lifts as we'll be down for the RL Varsity the night before [to watch Little Ivor - I know I've mentioned it before!!]. [That's on Sky also - I'll have my Giants shirt & scarf on!]

I would always suggest forget the M1, nightmare lower end then M25 on a Friday night disaster. I always come down M1 and then shoot across to the M40, either as high up as M1 Leicester on the M69 past Cov to Warkwick M40 jc 15, or if it's struggling get off the M1 anywhere between 21-15 where you can pick up the A5 south, then cut across on the A43 past Silverstone to the M40, or just com off M1 at the A43 junction and cut across.
Once on the M40/M25, it's only a couple of junctions to the M3 [15-12] and straight up as the M3 becomes the A316 to go past the ground.
May be a few more miles, but rare to get as caught as you can do on the lower end M1.

Luton virtually to Bedford is all 50 mph so agree with Homer cut across on the A43 Northampton to M40 past Silverstone. Safe Journeys

| i always go M1,M25,M3,A316 straight past the ground,but i've been told the M40 onto M25 is a pretty decent alternative,i know from experience that the M1/M25 is truly horrendous on friday afternoons.
