The club are obviously very good at manipulating large UK companies and Councils into spending lots of money for projects that have zero chance of ever succeeding!!!'"
Congratulations go to Wakey then
I can't argue with that
Back to subject, I'm still not bothered about Brough coming/not coming. And I very much doubt your "manipulative" chairman will be able to extort "lots of money" out of Uncle Ken.

| I am currently trying to tidy this thread up using a network computer which is slow at work.
I have no time to issue warnings the next poster on here who goes off topic about Brough and talks about wakefield, their ground, mergers or big teds pockets is BANNED.
1 week for a Giants poster
2 weeks for a Wakefield poster. Mick

| imho if you do sign DB he may break what looks like being potentially a fantastic year for the giants , however you dont really know a play till you see them week in week out and danny is a quality HB so he might have the reverse affect. i guess if he does join then the answers will all be known come September and if not then we will always be talking speculation.
wakefield need him in playing terms more than huddersfield but we also need 100% commitment .

Totally agree with that, at the end of the day only DB can make the decision that he wants to come and only N Brown and Uncle Ken can make the decision as to whether they want/need him enough to take us to the next level and with his supposed "baggage" whether they are prepared to pay for what could be a big gamble. It really is a shame that the possibility of signing such a talented player is being questioned, but the "supposed" baggage that's followed him throughout his career can't be ignored.
What will be will be.

None of the posting by GiantJo is on topic.
It is obvious your coach wants Danny Brough but your much heralded chair cannot aford him, while the followers of your club do NOT want Brough.
Am I living in England under a Labour government ? Whatever happened to freedom of speech ?'"
Broughy is an enigma with a very good kicking game. Some Giants supporters do want him so your post is factually incorrect. I suspect DB would be less bother than Todd Carney - even if the later has a more conventional hairstyle.

Its good to see that you and other Hudds fans are warming to the thought of Danny Brough joining your club, As it was an open vote I thought well why not and I endulged myself and voted that Broughy should join you because he will benefit your team. He will add that little bit extra your team needs if it is to go on and challenge the big Yorks clubs' like the Bulls and Rhinos for silverware, its no good beating the likes of them once in a blue moon you need to kick on and be beating them on a regular basis. With Brough in your team this will give you a realistic chance of doing this if your players adapts to his undoubted talent. As for those players on offer for him, I am not sure but I dont think Jonny Kear would be interested in any of Brown's cast offs.

Don't think it really matters what Kear thinks, if we're to believe the rumours nobody wants to leave us anyway, which is good and shows we've got a good team spirit as well as good squad depth. As for the Bulls, hopefully I think we'll both finish above them again this season

| Lets step the debate up a notch!, if DB comes what are the pro's and cons of such a signing,
Pro's - one of the best kicking games in the superleague,
media speculation as to if he is the final cog in our jig saw for silverware
good chance of being in future international teams thus improving the clubs profile.
Cons - very much a indevidual player on the pitch
does not endeer himself to supporters (bit of a prima donna)
Drink!!!!! (mind we have had a few who enjoyed a bevvy or 10, so may be a pro)
would he be here to play for the club or is he chasing a big pay day.
how long would he be here for???? (corect me if im wrong but still unsure if he has seen out ANY of his previouse contracts)
right over to you chaps.

| I personally think the media comments on him being the missing piece are way off target.
While he has got a great kicking game, our achiles heel last season was a lack of discipline and mental toughness...i.e. we froze at certain times in certain games.
CC final, the playoff games (all we should and could have won on another day).
In those situations I dont think an individualistic player like Brough would have made any difference, indeed he might have contributed to more games like that.
What we need to take us up is a touch more consistancy, and we seem to be getting that, and some mental toughness.
To me DB is an unneccessary aquisition, and certainly not one we should be trading players and money for unless they are players we have surplus.

| What do we want him for? An unfit 40-odd year-old has been who never was? Whose greatest assets are his mouth & fingers?

The thing is if you got Kear he would bring the youngsters' through and not a succession of under achieving imports which in turn would then release money to try and improve your youth policy. Not only that there would be added bonuses for your fans, like cheaper season tickets' for instance which should go a long way to improve your fan base. Btw I am slightly puzzled here how can he be a has been if he never was in the first place I am sure though you will have a perfectly simple explanation. Oh and fwiw he would be coming as a coach not a player so what has his fitness got to do with it?
