| LOL!
What I need now is a trombone sound, you know, that comedy type one that gets used to finish a joke...
Take my wife, please.
I keep taking her places but she keeps finding her way home!
B'dum tish [trombone sound]

You're kidding aren't you? Saints have had a great defence all through Super League - it doesn't get much attention because they've always had a great attack - but part of a great defence is playing right up to the margins on slowing down the play the ball. No side bounces up as soon as the tackle is made, that'd be stupid, every single side tries to slow it down and always has. What Saints do well, and did well against us on Saturday, is to go into the tackle in a way that they wont get turned or put on their back - to play the ball as quickly as possible. What every team tries to do is counter that and play to the margins. Saints have been one of the best at it for years.

I think he is just reflecting what many coaches and most fans think
Maybe we could make SL a 9 a side tag rugby competition? It would be so free flowing and exciting. Hopefully the contact aspects of the game could be irradicated
When the Giants first started winning a few games Tony Smith was slagged off for daring to play a physical game plan. Now it is Nathan's turn.
A games rhythm is spoiled by excessive penalties - actual rule breaking - step forward the worst offenders ...Catalans.
The game is spoiled by violent conduct. Catalans have had 4 players banned this year. The Giants zero.

| It's odd isn't it, the year that supposedly the PTB has been slowed down so much that it stops free-flowing rugby is the year we have played some of the best attacking rugby I have seen us play in Superleague?
Was watching the Try of the Season thing on the big screen before the Wigan game and we've scored some great tries this season and it didn't include some of the best we've scored IMHO. Like Brett Hodgson's in the semi-final. ATEOTD good teams, players and coaches should be able to break down defences without just jumping quickly out of dummy half and catching players off-side. These coaches need to look more closer to home for reasons why their sides lose matches.

| Slow PTB is not Huddersfield's trade mark it's the excuse used by lots of embarrased opposition coaches !
The Fair play league at post 2 is a classic. Catalan are at rock bottom !

| nice to see him jumping on the 'losers' bandwagon before the game.
its quite obvious he is $hit scared of our team turning his over and so he is using a different tactic to most coaches this season, try and influence the referee before they play the giants to try and stop us.
If his team are good enough on the day then they will beat us - this smacks of a coach who hasnt got much confidence in his team so is complaining about out 'tactics' before we beat them.
Chin up Walters - at least we cant finish below you in the fair play league

| on tonights boots n all , paul cullen said that the giants were not doing anything different to any other team in super league , only that the giants have perfected holding down at ptb , terry oconnor said also that it is part of the game to help set the defence , just a publicity thing by walters , it dont mean nothing

Sure we have had a good defence. Anderson did that for us. But it has slowed right down. We timed it well under the old system of speedy PTBs, from which we would scoot, but three men in, peeling off, taking heaven knows how many seconds to peel off: we weren't in that style at all. Also, we have not operated a compressed defence like you, which acts as a moving wall. It can leave your edges vulnerable, which Wire exploited in the Challenge Cup final but we failed to do in the semi. A sound kicking game can screw you but we haven't had one of those for a few years now. It appears that what we are capable of doing, however, is bringing an element of your defensive game to you, which we did on Saturday night in that we were in your faces for the full 80. We didn't operate a compressed defence, but we did make sure you couldn't get an attack going. It was a very effective means of beating you and one which everyone will have watched.
I've probably not explained myself any better this time around but I know what I mean, even if no-one else does!
On the point about Walters, I think he's been quite clever actually. He's issued a challenge to Ganson, the RFL (by association) and your coach. People will be watching in the light of what he said, and judging the play accordingly. I'm looking forward to the match even more, now.

I think he's running scared and trying to use mind games, akin to Potter with the semi. We not only played a weakened team last Saturday but we played people in different positions.
I think Brown was keeping people guessing, and if we win Friday we could be quite a different proposition come the semi's to what was seen in week 1 of the play offs.

| I just hope we don't go OTT with it!
I think he's partly done this to put some needle in us so we maybe will go too far, and also to try and influence the ref. It just galls me that a side with the worst discipline in the league is complaining about our tactics.
I really, really hope we beat them and that Brown comes out with some kind of retort post match in his inimitable fashion. First and foremost though, we need the win.
