Totally agree with that, the first 10 mins knocked the stuffing out of the team, of course its going to leave the fans flat

The moment that second (perfectly good) try was cheated from us I knew it would be our day

Cant gripe at fans for also feeling flat.

Quote: cjg1mpo "I'm not wanting to make waves, but the way we started, and then continued to play it was pretty tough to get enthused to shout about anything. After the first 20 mins it was pretty easy to see which way the game was going, we didnt look to offer much in the way of attack. Shame we had to play like that in the final. Our final must have been against saints. We played a hell of a lot better there.

Another case of "rabbits in the headlights" im afraid. Shame, some of our lads experienced twickenham, Wire didnt, why are we effected by Big occasions so much? Why could they hold there nerve?'"

I thinik we just have to hold our hands up be honest and say Wire played well and we didn't. Also I would have liked to have seen our team out first to warm up, Wire looked professional from the start. To be honest we looked a little bit sloppy and too relaxed. Still, whatever the performance you have to sing and get behind the team.....in the end I see it like a battle of the town's...who's support is better, who are the more vocal and up for a laugh...yesterday that was the Wire support by a country mile. If a neutral from another country was in attendance yesterday, he/she would clearly think Warrington was were it is at and that Hudds is just a town of old prudes who don't now how to have a good time. We can take nothing away from Warrington's performance, they were so on the money and from the first until the last looked every bit the real deal.

I know Wire go on that its 1991 since they were at Wembley, but they have also been in the top and doning ok all that time, we havent...that makes a big difference

A lot of our supporters yesterday would have been people who used to go, and havent in years, older people who are more reserved now

Wire have had the generations introduced to the team and so have a mix of all ages, something we still, imo, lack a bit

That's all very well and good and I wouldn't disagree, but regardless of any of that there were plenty of teenagers and people like myself in their 20's and 30's who did nowt....barely clapped. I can't make an excuse or even accept one for the lack of noise, I'm not expecting a Rio carnival but something a bit more lively than what we had yesterday.....a morgue!

I have just got back from Wembley - I was due to stay in London until tommorow but couldnt find the enthusiasm to stay.

For my part I though I would be quite emotional yesterday but the day never lived up to the billing. I am afraid to say same old Fartown, big occasion, big let down and believe me it hurts to say that about our team. I at least expected us to give Warrington a game and dare believe we may have won it but with a display like that we didnt deserve to win.

Shaun Lunt is an absolute star and if the rest of team had have had a heart as big as his we may have troubled Wire. I was sat in the gods with rows of empty seats around us -and from the first few =minutes of the second half felt it was beyond us.

I am afraid with a pereformance like that it was a very empty feeling. I cannot comment about fans in the tiers down the front because I was so far away. It was like a morgue where I was sat!! icon_sad.gif

It wasn't just during the game when the team were playing badly it was from the moment i got into the stadium, there was no 'party' atmosphere, no singing before the game, no joining in with abide with me etc - nothing from our fans at all !!

Some fans seems to fail to understand that when your side is playing poorly you need to rally behind them, get them fired up again and show them that you are with them 100% of the way. At least that way you can say you played your part and did your best, very few can say that about yesterday.

I Cant disagree, there should have been more noise and support, but it is so hard to get anything going when we played like we did. Any spark or attack or hope we had was soon spoilt by an unforced error on our part.

It works both way, the team has to give us that spark of hope to cheer about something. Unflortunaltly throughtout the game that was lacking. Other than one or 2 breaks. Closly followed by a knock on. How can you cheers at that?

to continue - the worst thing is a performance like that wont do any good in attracting new supporters. It is such a shame after the season we have had because we have been playing some great rugby.

I really felt we had a good shout but yet again another false dawn - NB has a big job now getting the players focused again for the playoffs but again if we ever qualified for a GF how would the players cope with that pressure?. Its a very emply feeling having witnessed that yesterday lets just hope the boys can get up for the weeks ahead.

To be honest I wasnt that upset we had lost because to be honest we were never at the races. Had we played to our potential then maybe we could have won it but games arent played on if's and buts.

Its a harsh lesson to learn and lets hope its not another 50 years to wait until next time. Well done Wire the best team ON THE DAY won it.

Must admit to being disappointed with the Fartown following, but looking at your average crowds, then in all honesty it was quite decent, hopefully a few of the non-regulars who went, will decide to go regulary.

another problem you have,is compettition from the football crowd,12k at home yesterday and we are in a recession,so all in all,a crowd of 76k is not too bad in the circumstances.

I don't think it's the number that's the issue to be fair. It's the quality of the support that upsets me.

Monitoring outside for the people inside:

The way fans are spread out at Wembley and the all-seated factor makes it difficult to get anything going so don't be too hard on yopur fellow fans. It doesn't help when you are behind either.

The ones I met yesterday were great.

We were chacing the game from the first min. What was there to shout about? Also, i bet we were so quiet before hand as we were all nervous we might throw it down the pan like we usually do in front of TV cameras, just like we did!

From the state of the game, to take nothing away from wire who were the better side on the day, they didnt win it! We lost it!!! 2 very soft trys in the first 10 mins, and very little idea when attacking. Which this season has been pretty good!

At least we didnt do the Wigan Walk!

Daz

You know I wouldn't take issue with what you are saying but the problem here is not the fans but the ticket allocation.

If there was more time to pre-plan tickets and to get the singers all together they would make enough noise to get the other people singing. Bearing in mind we were overlooking you we were not able to hear you at all.

Whilst you complain that these people have chosen Wembley as their first game and come out for the day trip you fail to see that these people are the future. Get them all to games at the Galpharm and we have 14,000+ average attendances and they will learn the songs over time.

They way you are talking you sound like you want the dark days at Fartown to return with 500 fans watching us lose to Nottingham. We need these fans to come week in week out and learn our songs.

Wadski, i understand what your saying but the point is i dont think it would have mattered how many singers were sat together as 95% of the people supporting us had no intention of making any noise yesterday ,and even 500 of us together wouldn't have made a difference as around us there were plenty of people trying to get some encouragement goingbut no one responded at all !!
