| Ellis would be behind woody too! Not forgetting leeming who's still waiting in the wings as a specialist hooker.

| the problem i see now with jake is that he has impressed in 3 different positions in the first team and has done really well at centre in the 19's, could he become a victim of his own success by not having a specialised position?
would he become a first choice centre, winger, full back or half back or a utility player who can anywhere in the back 3 or in the halves?
whatever happens we need to keep him in the first team if that means senior players miss out then so be it, he has earned his place and should keep it now and others should have to fight their way back in.

At 19 Meast he still has some growth in him,he certainly has all the attributes to make an exceptional player I think we should let the coaches and Jake himself settle what is quite an exciting problem.(Centre, for my money)

| i agree bilko, what i meant was do we develop him as a specialised full back/centre/winger/half back and see him as the number 1 in that position or do we use him as a utility player which means he is only used as cover for the players already in those positions?
i think with his good running game he would make as good a stand off as a full back and he has a decent kicking game too.
but it's great that we have a player that can offer us this, we have all known about his talent and potential for some time, for me next season he has to be given an opportunity to really make his mark on this team.

| Brearley 84 your loathing for Scott Grix even comes through on a topic not about him, get over it he has signed a 2 year extension so Paul Anderson obviously rates him highly. There have been far worse performers this season ?
I do agree Murphy was great against Saints and deserves his
Place in the team, personally I prefer him to Broughton on the wing, he also performed well at centre against Hull.
Who knows if Grix is fit and brought is still out he might play him at stand off ? As per Nathan Brown a couple of seasons ago.
To answer the question I can see Jake becoming a centre ?

| I remember Baloo saying something along the lines of he doesn't have a 'position' as he is so good in so many ...i think we're now starting to see what he meant !!

| I also remember his name mentioned two years ago by a board member who told me he was a future star. He also said the clubs biggest problem was knowing where to play him as he was so good everywhere.
After chatting to Scott Moore he came across as arrogant, as did eden, Dawson complained about our lack of support, they didn't last long at giants. when ive chatted to jake he comes across as keen but genuine, without arrogance. It bodes well for him I just hope we get a long term deal sorted sooner rather than later before other teams come sniffing.

Wow. We've had one other fan on this thread suggest Murphy for full back (I'll omit the username lest his/her opinion is next in your firing line) next year but Brearley gets it both barrels for having the temerity to follow up with the idea that Murphy 'take over the fullback role.' No mention of Grix in his post, only yours. How this comment shows any 'loathing' for Grix is beyond my comprehension.
The general consensus is that Murphy had a great game on Friday - as you yourself acknowledge. And I agree: 131 metres, 7 tackles & no misses, including a fantastic try-saving effort which must be a candidate for tackle of the season, and 2 tackle busts to boot. Granted, I'd like to see more of him at 1 before anointing him our fullback of choice, but he had a chance to stake his claim on Friday and he struck gold.
Connor has rightly been lauded by the fans for another energetic and composed display. Dare I say it, he looks like a young Iestyn Harris. Early days, but what a prospect we appear to have.
I enjoy reading the differing opinions on here, but some topics - or players - appear sacrosanct.

| Scott Grix has been carrying an injury recently which seems to be one of those that can 'go' anytime !!
Why would you bring him back when in not many games he has had to retire at half time more than once??
Play off football is about fitness in a high pressure game where an injury can be exposed if it's not healed !!
It's the same reason they have to be sure with Robbo after Friday !!
Who's fullback next season is irrelevant but we need our best 17 fit men on the field Thursday if that's Murphy fine, if it's Grix fine again it's the coaches choice.
If Robbo or Broughy can't play we should have no worries about Jake we have up to four games to play and may the strongest 17 get on the field whoever that is that PA and co choose !!
