| Rough stuff!
You're the ones who need to get a grip. The only people that are to blame for us not winning are our players and Bentham.
Trust me it had nothing to do with the likes of so called hardman Justin poore and his tough mates.
You got away with murder today. And good on you. I would like to think my team would do it given the opportunity.
We need to forget about it now and kick on. Roll on Friday.

It's very rare we actually get anything of the ref and trust me we have been the victims on more than one occasion last season so we know what it's like to hate the refs but you have to dust yourself down and get on with the next game

| Amazing how many hull KR fans have found their way onto this board when they struggled last week.
I'm sorry but Bentham was shocking- and even the hull KR fans coming on here crowing are admitting it pointing to knock ons and forward passes (that they couldnt possibly be in a position to see from behind the sticks) we were 24-6 up at half time and I posted then he was shocking on SLfans site.
The players let the game get away from them - possibly partly through frustration- but with the state of our refs they are just going to have to get over with it and deal with it as it won't be the last time.

| Rough stuff not a problem, what is a problem is how its dealt with. Soon as the Giants try anything remotely like KR were putting into the tackles and we end up with a man less.
Thats the issue here and dont kid yourselves that it isnt. we ended up with one binned for holsing down ffs when you have Burns and Larroyer to name 2 putting elbows and knees into the tackled player.
Bentham was just praying we retaliated so could gift the game to Rovers, lets have a bit of biff but lets have a straight referee too.

I'm not going to get into the ref debate, but a point of fact, the Wardle sin-binning was a professional foul following Welham's interception, any ref would have no choice but to produce a card. The other incidents you refer to are not automatic sin bins and maybe a team warning would have been required if he felt we were repeat offenders?

| Ok, had time to reflect and although we didn't do enough or deserve to win that game we were certainly not helped at all. If Burns had have missed that kick we would have still won the game but i guarantee our opinions of the clueless fool with the whistle wouldn't have changed if we had have.
The brawl was all his fault for not making the Rovers player get off our man when the tackle was made, push and shoving took place then the Rovers lot steamed in fists flying....is our tackled man just supposed to stand there and wait till the Rovers player decided to release him ? Bentham should have blown for a penalty then none of that would have happened.
The Wardle sin-binning annoyed the hell out of me - Bentham had no choice but to send him for holding down but in the same half he penalised Rovers 4 times for the very same offence (holding down) so why weren't 4 rovers players binned too? one answer i got was because their offences didn't occur in a 'dangerous attacking position', so are we now sin-binning players for where an offence took place rather than what the offence was?
Surely kneeing someone in the head while they are getting up to play the ball is also a sin-binning offence ? obviously not.
Problem is when a Ref lets thing go or penalises us for something then surely its in the players minds then to think 'oh i better not do this or that as he's caning us for it' therefore giving the opposition an advantage ? i dont know if this happens as i dont play the game but i'm guessing it does !.
Don't think folk on here are necessarily having a go at Rovers, they did what they were allowed to do, and myself or anyone else i have seen aren't begrudging them a point, they did superb to come back from that so credit there, our complaints are about how Bentham chose to ref the game against one side but not the other.

| Didn't go and couldn't listen to much of the commentary however the first half that I did get to listen to I heard that the Hudds final try had at least one forward pass and possibly two plus a knock on that may or may not have been a knock down from Eden??
This is from commentators sat along the side of the pitch and not from behind like the majority of the Rovers supporters.
Just as an up side to the officials, Rovers got absolutely spanked last week against Leeds in the second half but I don't believe one person blamed the referee and I do not remember one point in the match that the official was called a 'self pleaser'.
Rich Silverwood does blow hot and cold at times but I do believe he is one of the better officials. I wouldn't be surprised to see a big money deal for him to go down to the NRL much like Ashley Klein did a while ago and he wasn't half the standard that Silverwood has become.
I think most people remember Huddersfield as the ones who brought the wrestle in the tackle to the UK with Nathan Brown. We see now at Saints they are a very niggly team and are horrible to play against. Huddersfield have maybe mellowed out a tad but their old reputation still proceeds them.
Anderson's outbursts need to be controlled a little IMO (of which I'm sure he doesn't care what my opinion is!), yes he was unhappy, yes the tactics we used may well have been unsportsmanlike but that is something he should take up with the RFL and not the media.
I should imagine this game will make sure the return contest in a few months time will be quite tasty and possibly draw a few extra Giants fans over to the KC Lightstream Stadium!

It has been in the rules for years. If an attacking player breaks free and has an opportunity to get a quick PTB away then the defending player MUST release him. This is to stop defending players holding the attacker down so to allow the defence time to get back on side. It is an immediate sin-bin offence.
When holding down normally, there is already a line of defence and this is not seen as being a professional foul and so a penalty is given. If this happens too often then a team warning should be issued.
Sometimes when things "annoy the hell out of me" I look up the rules of the game and accept that my interpretation may in fact be wrong and the man with the whistle does at least know some of the rules!

| I have to admit that Bentham was correct with his decision to sin-bin Wardle. It was a professional foul which allowed our defenders to get back in position. If he hadn't, HKR's play the ball would possibly have resulted in a try for them. The other examples quoted were not professional fouls [in the letter of the law] and were quite rightly awarded only penalties.
However, most other decisions and non-decisions by Mr B left me totally exasperated. I even had to answer "I don't know" when fairly newcomers asked me "What was that for?".
Thanks to Little Ivor, I am slowly starting to learn how to view refereeing decisions objectively, but Mr B's performance yesterday was one of the worst I have ever seen.

Suspect you mean Phil Bentham, not Richard Silverwood. [Or does it mean you didn't listen to the radio at all!!

| Just watched the highlights and thinking about what I saw yesterday, I'm more angry out our mistakes than Bentham. We were nearly 20 points up and cruising in the first half, but not only did we take our foot off the gas, we switched the engine off and popped the keys in the pocket! We were bossing them even though they had the ref in their favour, it was totally ours to lose, fortunately we didn't but it felt like we did.
Our ruck speed slowed in the second half, this allowed us to get bogged down by HKR, teams like Stains and Wire would have pushed on with the speed and milked the penalties for all they are worth, we should made Bentham give them to us. Add to the fact that the defence didn't move up that extra yard, we allowed them the room to play when the set their mind to it.
HKR gave us a valuable lesson yesterday, when we get the chance, put the game to bed, there are plenty of teams with as much desire for the points as us, we have to show we have greater ability.
I just couldn't believe their celebration at the end, you'd have thought they won the lottery, they couldn't believe their luck, but all they got was a point. that should be a BIG lesson to us not to switch off, the ones that win the titles are the ones that don't switch off.
