| Quote meatpaste="meatpaste"No. You are out of the cup because Ferres got himself sent off.
Get over it'"
We lost because a perfectly good drop kick was not given (you get a point for it, you don't get points taken off you when a man gets sent off, get over that), the only camera that can determine the kick is the one directly behind the posts, all the others are at an angle too far away.
Some Saints fans are adamant it didn't go over, but they would lead you to believe that, despite the best camera shot showing it clearly did.
Luke Walsh who was stood to the side of Bentham, said in his post match interview he thought it was over, he knows it won't change anything, but he had the honesty to admit he thought it was over.
We can't do anything about it, Saints will go through to the next round, irrespective of what anyone thinks/says, it's a pity Bentham doesn't come out and say he got it wrong, but silence is golden eh.

| Quote Ginger_Giant="Ginger_Giant"I think the team needs to look at the areas they can control in order to close games out, there were opportunities in that game to take it further away from Saints and it not come down to a drop goal.
For example the penalty that they decided to run instead of kick, despite being a team that kicks at goal more than any other. Add in Danny Brough's kicking in general which has been off all season so far, moments of brilliance followed my moments of madness.
The McGillvary incident was unfair and he should not have been penalised, but acting petulant and not professional only exasperated the situation.
For the majority of that game the Giants were on top and it wasn't just a case of Saints not playing well, it was a case of the Giants not allowing them to play well. They need to repeat that to win on Thursday and get a bit of confidence.
Time to move on, there is a lot of season ahead.'"
Agree with this. Time to move on. I'll be at Hull to support as usual but will be no part of any misguided "protest".

I think this protest is a bad idea for a few reasons mate:
1/ It indicates the wrong sort of mindset - 'man up' and achieve despite adversity or show weakness.
2/ The reflection of point 1 on the fans and the club is pretty negative
3/ It will achieve nothing
4/ The trolls will have a field day/week/month!

| From a neutral perspective watching the match from over 225 miles away on the box. I was on the edge of my seat. I rushed home from work to see this game and am glad that I did. What a great spectacle this match was. The BBC, The RFL the Clubs and the Fans have a great product on their hands in the Challenge Cup. If this match was in the hands of Rugby Union, Soccer or Athletics commentators I wonder what the perception, interpretation and presentation of the action would be.
Huddersfield Giants have gone from easy beats to one of the most watchable RL sides on the Television and this game will have been seen by hundreds of thousands. Whilst that may be of little compensation in the wake of defeat, maybe Giants can take a few lessons from this game and come out stronger.

Agree with all of them plus can i add number 5 - the effort put into it is effort taken away from supporting the boys on the field - they need it this week and as there will only be a handful of us over there it seems daft to waste potential support for the team to have a go about something that we will NEVER influence !

Why should he? He didn't.

| This opinion is separate to the fanzine so please do not associated it to the fanzine:
The opinions on the protest to me show why Huddersfield Giants will never get anywhere! You lot are so happy to get walked all over by the RFL and never do anything about it! And when someone try's to stand up and be counted all you can do is slate them for it! Call it 'petty' and 'stupid'. You lot have made me feel like an idiot for trying to get things to change and I'm sick of it! Clubs like us, Hull KR and Widnes get done by the refs and the RFL year on year and no one ever does anything about it! So the one time a fan try's to get things to change and make things change in a sport we love they get told to 'Shut up and move on'! How long must we have to say 'move on'? How long will we get picked on by the powers that be?
I see on so many forums the thread 'Why isn't RL more popular than RU?' Or 'Why is RL seen as a minority sport?' Well attitudes amongst fans are the exact reason! While other sports fans demand change in the sport through protest and boycotting, we say 'We won't change anything'! Well maybe enough people got behind a cause then things would change!
I know no one will listen because I am just one fan with one 'stupid' view, but I hope you take this on board!

| I was still very bitter yesterday. However I have woke up today and I'm over it.
I'm happy with the performance overall and think that when we start closing games out we will be ok.
Let's put it into perspective. It's only a game. A game we all love. But all the same still a game.
I will be at Hull but will not be anywhere near a protest.
It will not achieve anything apart from making us look like sore losers and to be honest I think we would look stupid.
Let's get behind the team and hopefully our season starts Thursday.

| agree with the idea of a protest being a bad one.
while i also agree with feefifofum's sentiments, i feel that a protest will do no good whatsoever, we won't change the way games are officiated, we have to accept that we are going to get severe inconsistencies regarding how officials referee us in particular and try and be above that and win games where we feel we have been wronged.
i admire your sentiment in trying to organize a protest but in my eyes it will be futile an will make us more enemies and cause more sneering amongst the majority of the RL community who are still finding it hard to come to terms with huddersfield being good!
feel free to protest in whatever way you think is right, but i think this is one thing the fans won't get behind.
i am like daz and others, let us put our energy in supporting our boys in what is going to be a very tough super league game.
let's get as many fans as we can to hull, let us sing, shout, clap stamp our feet and wear our colours with pride ( and don't forget the scarves!) and let's make others think that we are good fans for turning out and backing our boys rather than protest about something that will never change.
