well done widnes, thats for sure, we definatly believe our own hype! we need to nuckle down and put in a performance worthy of the tag we have which is a top 4 side! cos as it stands we r no more than a top 8 side at best, lack of intensity and concentration is our downfall, we dont go from league leaders to nothing in an off season, im sure we will come good with a bit of hard work!

You have all the raw materials to be a top four side this season, and I think you'll come good.

a lot of talk after the match was our lack of attitude again, a lot fans on the way out seem to think the team have fallen in love with themselves and only have to turn up to win games, wrong, very wrong. not sure if this is the case personally,i just think we aren't clicking right now.
tonight was very poor, but credit to widnes, who played ok, but yet again we blow a decent lead(10-0 early doors then 20-12 with 11 minutes to go) by being complacent.widnes just executed their plays better and had more aggression than we did.
it was just one of those nights where nothing went for us and we were just beaten by a better team on the night

yep, credit to widnes, to be honest i didn't think there was much difference in the teams you were more clinical than we were.
i thought it was a poor game, and an awful atmosphere,especially in our end,was almost like sitting through a funeral service at times.
we will play better this year and so will widnes, thats about all i can say, a rather forgettable night.

I couldn't get to the game tonight but having just watched the highlights I would say that. Opposition teams are bound to be fired up to play the team that finished top of super league last season. Our defence looks reasonable but the attack is not great. However at this time of the season it is not a massive concern.
I would also say we are not getting any luck. Last week Ferres had a perfectly good try disallowed. This week Widnes last try looks very dodgy.
If we were getting beaten convincingly I would be concerned but two points is nothing.

What a brain dead performance.

Get into a what should have been a winning position of 8 points up with less than a quarter of an hour left, they kick off and then from deep in our own half we try throwing the ball wide (honestly), the inevitable knock-on scooped up and a try under the posts.

Why take these unnecessary risks in our danger area when in a *seemingly* winning position?

All within 60 seconds of establishing an 8 point lead.

Congratulations Widnes. They won because they were prepared to work hard for 80 minutes. They had some key players missing but put in a performance full of effort and enthusiasm. We, on the other hand, continued where we left off in the second half against HKR with little direction and unforced errors - in particular making poor choices.

We got what we deserved.

Without sounding like I've got it in for wood, we appear clueless without Lunt in attack.

I think Murphy will get dropped for Broughton come Friday. There were 2 or 3 occasions when Wardle or Ferres could have passed to him 20 metres or so out but didn't. is this because they didn't back him to finish it due to lack of pace?
Had that been the other side jerry would have got it and probably finished it.
It's harsh on Murphy who has been solid under the high ball and as good as anybody else in the team in defence.
Unfortunately he lacks the speed all wingers need.

we certainly do miss lunt, wood is an able deputy but lunt just makes things tick over nicely more than wood does.

as for murphy, i dont think he should be dropped, his all round game is impressive, his defence i think is bet than broughtons, although no doubt broughton is a very good winger would his defence stand up to briscoe and watkins better than murphy's? im not so sure.

i dont think we can criticize any individual for last night, the whole team was under par.

You didn't play well because you weren't allowed to IMO. Widnes' defence was superb on the night and had we not gifted you 2 tries in the first half, we would have won comfortably. Just shows that a good big 'un doesn't always beat a good little 'un and commitment, organisation, pace and endeavour go a long way in modern day RL.
