| It took Thaler until the second half to start penalising high shots and slowing down the play the ball. If he had done that earlier it would have been a more open game.
Credit to Batley though the played well. I was particularly impressed with their two hookers and the ginger haired prop.

Sounds like Thaler was pants at Batley. the ref at Hull was also awful and helped the big margin by penalising the Cru at every opportunity and not punishing FC for similar stuff but a winning bet is a winning bet so we'll take that. The away support was loud and proud as would be expected and winning Champ 1 looks on

| Firtsly full credit to Batley - just like 2 years ago they can count themselves unlucky not to have pulled off a shock win. We started well and seemed really up for it - but somehoew we seemed to lose heart when things did not quite go for us. Batley were well on top most of the first half and played a lot of the game in our half forcing repeat sets - we simply could not seem to break their momentum and they fully deserved to lead at the break.
Not sure why we can't seem to get these sort of games right and to be honest it came as no suprise that we made very hard work for ourselves. Still - we are in the hat for next round and that is all that matters.
Will defo go watch Batley for a fiver whenever we are not playing - top performance from them today and like has been said before they will turn over a SL team one day if they keep playing like that.

| Credit to Batley, there lads gave everything and more and like 2011, only them running out of steam was the difference in the end.
I'm not going to be too harsh on our boys as it was a tough game and ateotd we had to come from behind against tough opposition and we did.
People were getting on players backs from 10-15 minutes in and like i've said before, playing up the hill at the Mount is never easy for any team - we have no right to be hammering any team, we have to earn the right and we didnt do that - Batley had 3,4 men in every tackle and were walloping our guys, it was bound to take it out of them in the end.
Were through to the last 16 and i dont care how we got there, we did. Tell you what though we will have easier super league games than that this year.

| Can`t understand our fans having a pop at the team, we can only play as well as the opposition will let you, and Batley`s defence was spot on for a good hour before holes started to appear. They were putting at least 3 men in at tackles and this stopped offloads. But at the same time our defence was pretty good as we only let 1 try in, and that was from a kick.
I have seen Batley 4 times this season and they are a good team but today they played out of their skins, and well above their normal championship performances.
I know we could have had a more comfortable win, but these are the sort of games Rugby League needs in the Challenge Cup not blow outs as a lot of the other fixtures were.
In the end we were the better team but we were pushed all the way :- GOOD GAME

| Batley were excellent but was confused as to where Batley got some of there fans from today. Three guys behind us in Batley shirts did not even know their own players. When Greg Johnson got the ball they were convinced he was johnny Campbell. I then asked them how Tom Hemingway was playing for them and was told he doesn't play for us I think he plays for Workington very strange

Thaler was OK. Just let play flow a little too much at times.

Shame he wasn't the ref at Hull then as he did anything but, you expect the underdogs to lose the penalty count but he took it to extremes and a bit of SL nouse from some of the Hull lads swayed a decision or two.
The real problem with following two clubs is can't be in two places at once on days like yesterday but were a bit worried when we came out and found out the Giants were 4-0 down that we would not be going anywhere in the next round but thankfully the road to Wembley is still on and with Cru being down at Skolars for Friday Night Lights the day before the Final fingers crossed it will be the real "magic weekend" for us
