| Quote: Sarge "In my opinion, Cudjoe is a decent Super League player but should be nowhere near an England shirt. He is at his best with ball in hand but he does tend to just grab at the shirt rather than making a proper tackle. The Aussies or Kiwis would very quickly identify him as the weak link and exploit his defensive short-comings very easily.
As Huddersfield are very good defensively across the rest of the team, I think that Cudjoe's frailties are masked at Super League level but would be exposed in an England shirt where the defensive requirements are so much higher.'"
you obviously havent watched cudjoe much, watch him week in week out and his defence is top drawer
played plenty of games for england and not looked out of place
he has had a dip in form but is coming back now and was great again lastnight
very happy to have him for another 5 years

He makes on average 25 tackles a game. Has the same tackle success rate as Watkins. And missed none last night. Where this idea comes from that he can't tackle I just don't get. It's rare an offload comes from a cudjoe tackle.

| For all his defensive frailties that other fans see, and for what the Aussie and the kiwis would do to against him, I recall both Cudjoe and Watkins standing up well against their 3/4's in the World Cup

I thought some of you might get precious about him, but my comments are valid.
I've watched him a few times both at matches and on TV. He's average at best in defence and is covered by the rest of your team.
He has good games (as most good / average centres do) but he doesn't inspire me with confidence with his one on one tackling.
Take those claret and gold coloured glasses off and form an objective view.
As stated, he is a good super league centre who is not good enough in defence to pull on an England shirt.
Sorry if this offends, but it is my opinion

I kind of agree with you.
At times, he gets caught out and McGillvary has to cover. Which can then leave him isolated and people have a go at him for his poor defence.
His 'grab' tackle technique can also be an issue and 2 or 3 other players have to come in to finish off the tackle.
I do hope he can get back to his best though, but in my view there are many other centres ahead of him for an international call up

I kind of tend to agree as well, We concede a fair few tries down that side , and there has to be a reason for that.
What you referred to as his Grab tackle is what worries me about his game, I don't know why he has developed that style at all, He lets the opposition get alongside him and tackles them side on by the shirt or whatever, Maybe he is trying to avoid injury, I don't know.
Having said that he handled the big guy at Catalan very well, and he did a fair job last night, He was definitely England standard a couple of years ago, Maybe he's on his way back, Hopefully he is.

| He has always had that "wrangle" tackle and 90% of the time it's very effective at putting the player down and stopping a quick ptb
It also means any offload is likely to be spilled so it's not a bad trick
Hopefully were seeing him get back to his very best as the semi-finals approach

| i have been critical of him ,especially in defence, at times this season
but happily he no appears to have hit his stride again lately and is proving to be a real handful in attack and his defence has improved massively

no offence, just wrong.
like i say happy hes got another 5 years and hopefully can get the england centre spot again where he has done well before for the national side without being spectacular
i would say he has been picked for england for his defence too!
mcgillvary his winger has 19 tries this season, a good winger always has a good centre inside him

Sarge is right about Cudjoe's tackling it is weak, It is not dominant and he spends too much time grabbing collars.
