| They were hell bent on annoying and winding people up last night, those 3 at the back where we were where literally finding someone to 'bother' every 2 minutes. The lad n lass stood next to me had plastic alco-pop bottles bought from the bar but they still came flying over and grabbed them to check wht they were....another incident led to one of them barging their way through women to get to someone else it was frankly ridiculous, no one did anything wrong last night but those lot decided they were going to try and create some.
As far as i know there is phootographic and video evidence which will be getting sent to the relevant authorities too.
And the not letting the players through was just petty, what harm was it going to do ?
This way of stewarding is going to cost Wire money in loss of away fans soon i fear.

| it was pathetic and good job our fans can control themselves or there could have been another 'widnes' situation.
frankly they are a disgrace to warrington rlfc and the people that employ them should be given a talking to.
not one person stepped out of line last night, even the lad with the e-cig was calm about it all and despite protesting his innocence they still thought it was ok to grab him by the collar and try and drag him out. despite their been women and children there they just wanted to throw their weight around and it could have led to serious disorder.
the fact that after been told that what they doing was illegal not to mention none of them had licensed badges on eventually saw them relent and go and bully some other innocent people.
the bit at the end was truly pathetic and a shame ,again, looks bad on warrington. they deserve better than these monkeys!

| I saw the whole inident. From the steward barging his way through the crowd like a man on a mission shouting "move out of my way" to then nearly knock a young lass over and knocking people's drinks with his over aggressive behaviour. He then gripped the lad smoking the e cig by the collar and tried dragging him through spaces that weren't there.
The lad was calm but explained what is was. Instead of eating humble pie and sliding back under his stone he insisted on standing there for a good 10 minutes trying to wind folk up.
In the end he did leave without anybody in tow. That for me is straight up assault. It wasn't lawful ejection as nobody was ejected.
It could have got ugly, well done to people for not reacting.
The club really needs to look into this!

| I would suggest e-mails to both the RFL and Warrington detailing your experiences fellas .
Only by enough people highlighting these things will anything change .

Meast. Not being critical, but you've got it the wrong way round. The Widnes situation was caused purely and simply by Widnes fans. The situation regarding the steward would not have happened if the Widnes fans had behaved (and the pudding regarding the steward incident has been over-egged anyway, no-one at the Daily Mail bothered to ask the Widnes fan what he was doing in the middle of the trouble).
Having said that, your fans were an absolute credit to your club last night and it was great to see fans of both sides mixing in the pubs both before and after the game last night.

| Yeah, any gripes with the stewarding should be directed at the respective clubs and the RFL

Take it you were at the back then ?
He waded through all the lasses and kids at the back if it's the same incident.

Mummy duck is now thoroughly depressed. SHE was the one that was famous for losing five in a row........until the 2011 GF!!!!!: |
|
| As regarding "overzealous" stewards...just to point out that those involved are not actual STEWARDS, they are security. Reaction to the "alco-pop" bottle blame on Salford and Hull where bottled ended up on the pitch. Overall reaction blame Widnes. Stopping players coming to the fans blame, probably, the RFL because of Widnes and Hull.
Not saying that all actions were correct, and by all means contact the clubc with any issues but the initial basis of actions is based on orders/instruction they have been given....which are usually dicatated by previous actions.
Personally I would love to see Warrington have there own inhouse "security" as their own stewards are usually more polite and approachable (and I know a lot of them are foremost Warrington rugby fans to start with)

you must have been near me then?
the bald idiot only backed down after been informed that he has no legal right to eject anyone because he couldn't prove he was licensed, 4 times he was asked where his badge was!! he also was shown up by being informed that what the lad was doing was LEGAL and that he cant eject anyone for doing something legal, he was a total p**k and he would have deserved a smack if someone had have lost their cool with him.

I was meaning the bit about kicking off, im not saying the "stewards" caused it, just saying had we had idiots like widnes who don't need a 2nd invitation to kick off it could have been a lot worse.

Yep. So saw everything! A few on here blaming Salford and Widnes fans but surely hiring thugs to deal with thugs is a recipe for disaster.
Common sense tells you when you need security, ie certain teams. However if the club is that worried they should pay for more policing!

| I think even the decent Wire fans are getting fed up with these guys, seriously, anyone one who saw what happened or was involved at all, write a seriously worded email to that effect, otherwise this will occur on every visit.

| It was similar in the cup, the stewards were over jealous then too, but last night was downright out of order.
Wire fans seem to be blaming it on Widnes, who are with respect their local rivals, we are not.
I don't remember having any issues at Widnes with their stewards, so they don't seem to over police other clubs fans.

| I think it's the fact Widnes forced the stewards hands by acting like animals, since then, they've stepped it up a notch and now act like they own the stadium.

| could warrington not hire regular stewards who could interact with fans and see things from their perspective rather than employ idiot thugs who are there it seems to wind people up to the point where it kicks off?
just a thought, as it seems to work well at other clubs.
