Quote: SHIPLEYGIANT "There was plenty of booing at half time where I was sat and Im not surprised after that first half it was dire. At the end of day you pays your money etc - what I still dont understand is how the majority of the same team who beat Leeds played so badly yesterday. That performance was back to the bad old days for me. I left with 5 minutes to go because quite frankly the performance didnt warrant staying until the end. I did stay 10 minutes after the final whistle at Leeds though (credit where its due) oh that must not make me a loyal supporter sloping off early from Wrexham!.

One thing that did make me smurk was a comment from one of the more vocal sections of our support (presumably these so called 'loyal supporters') when trying to get others to join in was something like ' sing up you miserable b******s or go and support Town'.

Hopefully Tuesday will be better on all fronts!'"

I've no problems with people leaving early, they have payed for their seat and it helps ease traffic congestion at the end of the game for the more "loyal" fans. icon_biggrin.gif
The only booing I could hear was me and a few other Crusaders fans, when Ganson gave Witt the yellow. icon_biggrin.gif
The boo boys must have put in a lot less effort than their team because I couldn't hear them from the half way line but I did see the Hudds players managing to make a few breaks and score a try.
Witts yellow card was the straw that finaly broke the camels back, Ganson stirred up a hornets nest, the lads responded by lifted to another level and your pack payed the price.

i can understand the feeling behind that though as in the last 2 games against Wire and Leeds the fans have certainly got behind the players and IMO helped to spur them on to a great win , whereas Friday they were reluctant to give any vocal backing because the team were losing.
we've proved we can have an influence on the team with our vocals and it seemed at Leeds everybody was joining in yet a week later hardly anyone bothered.

i also acknowledge the players didnt give the fans much to sing about but at what point in games like Friday's do you stop offering support and think balls to it the players cant be bothered so why should i ?.

Your fans were a credit to your club on Friday, Easily the best bunch we've had in Wrexham so far. I really do hope you win the league this year because some of the stuff you play is magical.

Runcorn Highfield, Easter Monday, '87 or summat. If you were there you can tell me the score....

48 nil chief. Deighton Woolpack won the Holliday Cup (Joe Naidole somersault try in the mix) and the fella from St Joe's won the half time goal kicking contest.

I swear to God, if Fartown had played Deighton Woolpack that day Deighton would have won. Christ, we were a good team and plenty went pro. Joe, Carlton and we had the Hawkyard twins (were they twins? the looked so alike they could be) in the pack. Billy Stephenson, Wally. They were a cracking side.

Moving swiftly on...

He was let out on day release for manslaughter when he played for us FYI.

Not the brightest bulb in the chandelier, not the sweetest tea in the chest. They usually aren't and I don't glorify it. But he ran like he f*cking meant it. Nature of the beast.

It's like anything else. Just because they're good at a sport doesn't make them flawless. We're all flawed. So be careful who you shine your light at. He could be an a4sehole, quality RL player or not.*

*Not that Joe is an a4sehole EOS. Suffice to say, he's done some stupid sh*t.

I'm sure you were better looking back then. Weren't we all. I was only 10-12 in the last DWMC pomp. I have pictures though from the 70's by all accounts they were a proper side then. Most of 'em are gone now like.

Ive not been on here much over the weekend but just thought I'd come on to say, as a Wigan fan, I know how it feels today but I still believe that the GF will either be you vs us or you vs Wire come October.

Your team look like they showed up expecting an easy game and the complacency bit them in the bum before they had chance to change their mentality. Wigan were guilty of that a couple times last year: Bradford and Quins being prime examples, but look where we ended up. You probably dont need me to say this for you all to realise thats what happened but i felt it about time to come over to your board to say how happy I, and various other Wigan fans are, to be seeing another team challenging up there for the title.

i must say i dont like this loyal supporter chant when folk leave early because of a poor performance or folk get lambasted for it, ATEOTD we are all there for the same thing,if people want to show their displeasure and leave early then thats their choice they pay their money just like everyone else and if they choose to only watch 70 minutes of a game then it's their choice it doesn't make them any less loyal. people who know me know that i have been loyal for a quarter of a century nearly now and have been through some really crap times with this club, but if i leave 4/5 minutes before the end of a very disappointing defeat it means i'm less loyal than someone who has only known good times icon_lol.gif

oh and if any of the old brigade read this, then john turner was at the game on friday and said to say hi to any of the "fartown few" and wondered where all the old faces were.
and yes farawayfartown he did mention you specifically icon_biggrin.gif

Played a few times for Joes against Woolpack, great team all over park. Joe and Tom were 2 of the nicest fellas you could meet until you went up against em on the field. The 2 Hawkyards were both very good RL players too. Billy and Wally at halfbacks. Had some great games against em

Played with Joe at Lindley Swifts about 11 years ago. The guy was lovely off the pitch but a beast on the pitch.
