| You forgot that appalling win against the league leaders when we nilled them. I wonder why?
Robbo did not discuss about retiring when the side was being put together for this season.
I honestly don't know why some people bother watching [it's obvious that some posters don't].
Might come back in another 2 months to read more dirge.

Somewhere in the dust of time rest the bones of the Galilean
He who was spat upon. He whose face was marred beyond all human likeness
Somewhere buried among the lies of the past rests the tomb of Yeshua
Of he who was made God in a world without Hope.
And when this son of Joseph is found. What then will the Church of Rome say?
Prepare yourself for the day is coming. And men will say
"Blessed are the wasted lives who perished in the flames of the holy war": |
|
| Quote: meast "I haven't posted regularly on here for weeks now, most people know why, and i don't intend to stick around and get labelled and questioned again either.
Just a quick question, despite the seemingly abrupt and shocking turnaround in form, which a lot of people who tried to remain positive and see the bigger picture said was only round the corner, despite being shouted down and called out , should Anderson still be sacked along with the other coaches, conditioners, CEO, etc?
I don't want this to become another tit for tat , just want to know if people who were so desperate for PA to be shown the door still feel the same or whether you stick to what was obvious a few weeks back?
yes we are still in a poor position in the league, but we have played well now for 4/5 games, whose fault is this?
I'm sure most of us agree that it's still a great feeling to beat Leeds!!'"
There needs to be significant changes in the way the club is run.
There needs to be significant changes in the mentality of the club.
There have been a number of on and off field decisions in recent years which range from poor to mind-bogglingly appalling.
There seems to be no accountability at the club.
Someone is responsible for us choking in the playoffs, someone is accountable for some hideous recruitment and retention decisions in recent years.
Someone is responsible for the Mason saga. Someone is responsible for the toe-curling sub-PMRC moral righteousnousness of the clubs statement in the wake of that verdict.
Someone is responsible for the club not kicking on affter the LLS win. Someone is responsible for the falling attendances.
Someone is responsible for the club keeping at least 3 players during the offseason who have subsequently left the club part way through the following season when all three could have left and been replaced.
There is no vision at the club, no ambition, no drive or at least that is the perception.
There are issues ingrained in the fabric of the club that should be obvious to anyone with two eyes. Treating 3 wins as a sign that all is well is as puerile as treating 3 losses as a sign of the apocalypse.
People do support the club, most people on here have supported it for a long time. They care about it. That's why they want changes.
There seems to be a mentality that cos we were poor 30 years ago we have to treat any small success as a major triumph. We have been a top 5 side for too long to hide behind our past any more. Beating Leeds should be routine, not an amazing thing or we're back in the land of issuing a cheap looking t-shirt cos we managed to beat Bradford again. It's no better or worse than any other team. Had we beaten London Skolars last night we would be in the same position we are now.
If not we may as well drop to the Championships and be a big fish in a little pond.

That is a very good and responsible post, they are your opinions, and happen to coincide with mine, Many won't agree with them, that's fair enough, But to some they are Dirge, pure and simple. These are the ones who always have to be right about everything, and can stand no criticism of the club in any form or they take their ball home, Rather defeats the object of the forum and could account for the low number of posters on here.

I think the point of that post was about what HAS gone on at the club and is public knowledge. Or are you claiming the Mason fiasco didn't happen, We didn't sign Kopzac illegally , the Drew and Hodgson debacles never happened. The hiring and firing for this season has been shambolic, that's no secret, so why do you claim he has no clue?

| Don't think anyone has claimed the club hasn't made mistakes. It's more that people perhaps they feel the need to defend the club beacuse of the constant bagging it's received off some this season on issues such as conditioning, where the bloody bus picks them up, dressing room unrest and the coaches ineptitude. These didn't look factors to me in the last few games and we will improve too.

Yes he did.
When he retired Anderson said in the examiner he had discussed retiring towards the end of last season or are you calling Anderson a liar. Although Robbo wanted to play on it was clear that he was at best a massive risk which added to the small squad and the loss of ferres and the Patrick debacle suggests someone was gambling or took there eye of the ball.
I did not mention the wire game as I was talking about the winning run of two games which meast was using to justify why Anderson should stay.

I didn't pass any comment on either the fitness or the bus AFAIK.
I fail to see the point of starting a thread if you don't want to get peoples opinion. We have posters calling other people's posts Dirge, and taking their ball home, Others telling posters they haven't any clue, when the proof is clearly there in the public domain. I know neither was you, but to be fair the club doesn't get any more bagging than it gets blown out of all proportion praise. I mean someone asked the question on the back of 2 wins , If some of the answers don't suit , well that's the way the Cookie crumbles .

| My original question was , do you still have the same opinion of Anderson and the club, considering the turnaround of form, which includes a good performance at a top 4 team, despite the end result being lopsided, beating and nilling the team at the top of the league, a narrow, unlucky defeat to a team that are at the top, and 2 wins against last season's treble winners, NOT of the back of 2 wins.
I was not intending to turn it into another slanging match or for people to lash out, just whether your opinions had changed from 5/6 weeks ago.

No my opinions haven't really changed meast, I still don't think Mr Anderson is going to make us into a great side, I have given you all my reasons for thinking that. We have had two or three really good performances and I'm as glad about that as you are but I haven't formed my opinion on the number of wins or losses we have had. The last two seasons have mirrored that pattern, A really good performance here and there amongst a lot of very poor stuff.
We are still very near the bottom of the league which I feel with the players we have , and have had, is not good enough, It's good to see things coming together a bit again, some of the players are looking much better, Cudjo's form for example improved no end during the last section of last season, and he is now beginning to look more like he did before Mr Anderson became coach, He's just one, there are others.
Over all the club seems to be going nowhere, and I feel he has his part in that along with other things and people. I know you don't feel the same way and that is fine as far as I am concerned, I am not going to slag you off, or call your views Dirge, nor am I going to get the Huff and take my ball home. I don't claim I'm right I just give my opinion, why people get so upset if it's not what they want to hear is beyond me, At the end of the day nobody at the Giants takes any notice of them ( yours or mine ) and we all want the same thing , we all want another trip to Wembley.

Well as I wrote the 'bus article' let's examine the point behind it.
For anyone who like me went to the game it was in most parts a shambolic undisciplined performance where every time we scored we manufactured a way of letting Cas back into the game.
We scored 34 pts more than enough to win the game had we completed our sets and not given away umpteen stupid penalties more often than not for our usual tardiness in the ruck area.
As the performance on the day was so 'amateurish' I can't see where it is unfair to ask questions about preparation and attitude as seeing elite athletes stood in a bus shelter less than two hours before a game roused my curiosity.
Fortunately I have a big car and stopped to see if the bus had broken down and to offer a lift if it was needed but no doubt to some on here I'm sure that was wrong !!

| I kind of take you point I suppose but how far were they from the ground? And have won there last year too so why effect us this year but not last. I just think there's plenty of other reasons to a games result.

You are right there are a number of reasons why we lost I suppose the issue is if there are concerns about unity in the squad as some were saying due t.o the fall out over Ferres and Patrick being unsettling then it would be reasonable to assume that things that may suggest a lack of cohesion should be addressed.
In the end it may well be that there are other things that are more significant..
We shall see how the rest of the season pans out.
