Interesting. So Anderson adopts tactics to accommodate Grix's inclusion? The inference being he either sees Grix as being a key part of his side or that he has no confidence at all in Connor or Murphy at full back. Either way that would be bad news for those wanting Scott dropped.

It was very rare for Bodgy to ever run the ball back as well. So it is a tactic we have been using for a long time.

Grix has been one of our top 4 tackle busters for the last 4 seasons. Quite an achievement for someone who is scared of being tackled, no?
There are many reasons why the team may adopt a tactic of dropping the wingers back to receive a dump off from the FB.
It could be because Smurph and Jerry are very effective runners. It could be because Grix is our best support runner (he used to be the only player who would follow Fuey even though everyone must've known he was likely to offload) and so he is better following those two in case they offload. More than likely though it's because he is a much better passer from dummy half than either Smurph or Jerry and so gives us an extra option over than a scoot as second tackle when taking the ball out of our own half.

Don't talk rugby sense- it causes confusion in the ranks. Ahhh who am I kidding- they just ignore what they don't understand.

That's a great post !!
when at the games and people are screaming at Grix to 'run hard, run straight ' etc and then they moan when he passes it ! i've said to many people have you ever thought it's a tactic, a coach's order to do it rather than Grix actually choosing not to himself ??.
Or maybe they want him to run in hard, get smashed, drop the ball etc so they can then have a go at him for that !
Like i've always said 1st carry is all about safety and if the safest way is to pass to a winger to run it in hard for 1st collision then that's fine with me. If it is a weakness of Grixy then surely that is good coaching to not have him doing it in the 1st place ?

| l have long been a fan of Grix, in the first years he had to change position a lot, but in my humble opinion he is the best FB we have at this time.
Further comments l will keep till seasons end, and the 5 to stay, and 5 to go post.

Spot on, some folk just haven't got a clue

| Anderson gets a new 2 year deal so that will upset the creater of this thread!
arguments for and against really but right now its the right choice, won the LLS , backed it up with a 3rd place finish and currently 4th in the table...the majority of clubs would love to swap places with us!

Well I'm no big fan of PA, but it certainly won't upset me. I can choose to go and support or not, It's more about style of play and entertainment for me, That's just me , some will be far more bothered about finishing high up the league, Points are everything sort of, That's fine as well cause they can choose whether to go or not as well.
I am not particularly impressed with finishing 4th, 3rd or whatever if we just keep getting wiped out in the playoff's. We did extremely well to win the LLS, and though I think it's wrong, it's viewed as a runners up trophy by most RL fans. I don't recall any increase in attendances of any note either, so if that's the case maybe it's true.
In my opinion our style of play has gone backwards in the last season and half, there will be many reasons for that I suppose but again in my opinion PA is one of them, We have some players who have gone backwards, some who haven't.
The biggest case to be made for PA is probably that we don't have the quality of players (generally ) that the so called big clubs do, Probably true enough, My main problem is if we can still be 3
-4 th in the league after playing like we have for the last season and half a lot of the time, What could we do if we played like we are capable of, and show we are capable of in odd matches,( sometimes Half matches ).
That for me is where the top coaches can, by various different styles get the very best out of the players, This is where I think PA is lacking. I may be quite wrong , but it is my opinion only.
I'm very interested to hear other peoples reasons why he should have gone or stayed, All hypothetical now but still worth hearing.

The fact he actually catches it is a massive benefit compared to what we've had before ......

| It's great finishing 3rd or 4th. But what's the point when we bottle it once we are there.
Daz mentioned Grix giving possession away by losing the ball in collision hence why he passes it.
Here's a thought. How about a FB that can take a tackle without losing the ball!!!
Just a thought.
