| Quote: Danril "I think this was a very interesting game. It would have been good to have had LO'D and Doof out there tonight because we didn't quite have the power and nouse they would have brought to us although Fairbank in particular showed up well in their place. Walker looked for the ground too soon and IMO Bentham let the Wires lay on and turn the player (npot from being on his front to his back but from facing forward to facing his own line) after the tackle to slow the man getting on his feet, whereas he pinged our guys for holding the ball way too quick in comparison.
We respected them too much at times and our line speed was just not there. Our threequarters stood off too much in defence in the first half. KB also let himself get wound up a bit.
Lots to be positive about because we need to remember that we had so many big lads missing. Patrick, Mason, LO'D & Doof. It's a huge disadvantage yet we were in the hunt and with a decent ref who could control a game and a different bounce we were well capable of coming away with the win. It bodes well.'"
Agree with all that. Would also add, we didn't collapse. We kept plugging away and got back into the game three times after being pegged back, no 64-6 or 47-0 tonight.

| Good point, we conceded two in two sets but then regrouped and got the next try.
And some of our defence in our own 10m was very impressive indeed. They have pride, spirit and desire. I am disappointed to lose but not disappointed in our performance when looking at the bigger picture.

| They really upped the intensity with 15 to go and could easily have built on that momentum to win it. As it happened, the rub of the green didn't go with them and the last try broke their hearts. Wire deserved it on the day but there's a cat's cockhair between those two sides IMO.
Generally, I thought that Wire milked the play the ball and Huddersfield didn't do the same when they should. I also thought that Huddersfield were weak on the right hand side defensively. Tommy Lee's challenge was bad timing rather than malicious from where I was stood (with the flask and cookie brigade) but I could heave been closer. I did think that Wire benefitted from some forward passes at key times when the touch judge was in prime position to make the call.
From what I saw there was nothing in the Brown 'forearm' apart from Brier's hissy fit and attempted bitch slap on the back of it. But that's Briers and why fans love or hate him. All in all it was an entertaining game that was in then balance until the last 10. Entertaining stuff.
Edit: I should add that I reckon Grix didn't have the best of games. Eden looks like a very exciting prospect and Eorl put a serious shift in.

| Win or lose, I can't remember the last time I didn't enjoy a game against Hudds, and today was no exception.
They're always close games and very forward dominated with a bit of biff.
Bentham bottled it big style tonight, but for me the key to us winning was that during the constant penalties in the second half we calmed down earlier than you and had a little more composure.
Genuinely hope you do well this year, you've a really well balanced team with some fantastic youth prospects, and apart from one or two fans who are still hung up on Moz's tackle last year on Mcgillivary I've always enjoyed the banter.

hmmmm maybe but only as far as tommy lee would have seen red, gilmore or brown and bridge would have seen yellow (last 2 probably wouldnt happen if there was a different ref as he would have took charge and listened to the touch judge and shown the red to tommy) i honestly dont know how you think that you didnt have the rub of the green with the ref? there were some dodgy decisions both ways he was a bad ref but to both teams.

yes you may have been down to 12 players if not 11 at a point and would you really think the game would have been so close then???

| warrington got away with far more than the giants...many forward passes missed (including the 'try')
ferguson is no prop, think nathan brown got that wrong playing him there plus he had to go off injured.
twice we got ourselves infront and then started kicking early in the tackle count, making silly mistakes and bentham penalising us to death.
grix missing his tackle to let wire back in front
anyway 2 wins from first 3 games (wigan, widnes, wire) id of taken with the players we have been missing
roll on next week

Not forgeting Chans "try" when the tackle count was incorrectly counted on the prevous set giving you the ball on the halfway line...
We had two players go off injured in the first 1/4 which impacted on our rotations and you still could not handle us on your own ground! 5th at very best for the Giants this year!

To say nothing about how Bridges managed to stay on the field.

| I thought I was watching the superbowl when I watched the Wire tries this morning on tv. How copper top(2nd) and dog fiddlers tries weren't pulled back is beyond me

| Wire did enough to win imo. The ref was rubbish to both teams. It's just this "holier than thou" attitude that is coming from a few of their fans about the foul play, as if they are claiming some sort of moral high ground over the proceedings. Garbage. The discipline (or lack thereof) from both teams was dreadful.
Still as I said though, Wire deserved to edge it. No complaints there.

Could argue that Bentham should have penalised Wire on numerous occasions for walking off the mark?
Which of Chans 2 tries? the benefit of doubt one which was given when Wigan scored a similar one other week but not this week? The forward pass where Monaghan scored was 2 foot forward. Lee should have walked no doubt but then again Bridge should have had 10 in the bin at least. If Brown should have had 10 so should Westwood for the late hit off the ball. Also if you watch just after it kicks off with Bobbie Fairbank, he drives it in and gets another penalty again off Bridge, he drives it in again and just watch the cheapshot elbow from Westwood when Fairbank is tackled on the ground, you probably didnt see that one!!! lots of things missed by Bentham both ways, some more telling than others.
We only see what we want to see.
On a seperate note wasnt Bentham the ref when we played you in Challenge Cup at Wembley and Ian Smith video ref? the one where Lunt's try was chalked off for a non-existant double movement? sorry to harp back but bit of a pattern emerging?
Wire defended well and Giants bombed a couple of good chances, but its early doors and the youngsters at the Giants are looking great and can only get better. Bobby Fairbank really impressed me and never took a backward step.
I will stick with my original comment though, different ref, different day and would be different outcome, think Wire will be in the mix at the end of the season, you predicting a 5th place fiish for the Giants, will do me cos we all know what happens to the team who finishes 5th
