| Quote: John_D "That's like celebrating qualifying on pole, rightly, but crashing on the third lap and still being chuffed.
Wherever Fartown end up on the league ladder, it's a great opportunity to go and win the Championship. I wouldn't go so far as to say that not winning it this year would constitute a failure, but you'd have to ask when would there be a better chance.'"
I dont agree, winning the shield, to us, is special in its own right so i doubt you will find many fartowners too disappointed if we dont win the big prize. Its not like we're expecting to win the GF....We'll happily enjoy whatever comes along when it does.

| John you clearly don't understand about giants fans. There are only a handful of giants fans who have seen us lift a first grade trophy. So for those of us that have been around a long time but not quite 50 years ANyTHING is brilliant! Its not like starting on pole then crashing, its like you'd always started at the back and crashed anyway- but you finish in pole position for just one race even though you haven't won the drivers championship. A moment on the podium - we will take that!

| No, winning the LLS is like winning Le Mans
Winning the Grand Final is like winning a drag race.

| Quote: Wadski "John - In 2010 our final game of the season was at Warrington. They were presented with the LLS after the game. The home stands were packed for it and the fans were celebrating finishing in pole position therefore I fail to see your point.'"
Says more about Warrington fans than owt else, I guess.
So long as the players are treating it as a nice-to-have but recognise there's plenty of work still to be done, then it's no worries is it

| If we finish top we will not get a better chance of winning both the LLS and the GF. Need to grasp every opportunity. If you start thinking we can always have a crack next year if we don't win it then you tend to find next year never arrives. I'm absolutely certain PA is fully focussed on winning both bits of silverware and that he'll make sure it's going to take a bl00dy good team to play bl00dy well against us to stop us.

| Meh! Go back a couple of years and it was important to Wire fans and not so much to Wigan fans. However, they both exchanged those views 12 months later when their teams swapped positions. Big it up if you must but if you win the LLS you really ought to be getting to OT at least, especially when you've played as well as you have most weeks this season. You keep that up in the play-offs and you've a great chance. Personally if we won the LLS and missed out on at least the GF I would be disappointed. Fortunately our 2 LLS wins were backed up by winning the GF and I don't recall us parading the LLS at the homecoming celebrations. Indeed didn't Saints cancel theirs once due to a 'fire at an electrical sub-station' nearby or some such guff after winning the LLS but losing the GF? We'll see what happens in due course! Good Luck!

| Fans of others clubs who say the LLS doesn't matter can't possibly understand the Giants / HRLFC mindset. 81 years since we won the league! Possibly, not one fan alive has seen us win the league. Lot's of other clubs never win the league, but no other club ever finished bottom of the Superleague 4 times in a row and were the laughing stock we were. 60 or 70 point losses the norm.
30 years ago, success was being drawn against a big club in the C.C. Never in our wildest dreams did we think we could ever regularly play the big boys yet now we regularly BEAT the big boys.
Is the LLS the be all and end all?... Hell No! But it's a hell of a way to kick on and be the best.
One man said something along the lines of this a while ago 'This is a big club, and I'm gonna take it from here, right to the top'. Well, Alex Murphy, we're not there yet but I'd like to thank you for the desire you planted in us all, and I hope if we do, you realise the part you played in our success.
One step at a time. Keep it going boys.

| bit long winded but bear with it.
as others have said fans of other teams don't see it from a fartown fans point of view.winning the league might not mean anything to fans of other clubs as their clubs have always been regarded as big clubs fighting for the trophies, these fans EXPECT to reach and win major finals, we don't! we hope, not so long ago we could only dream of being where leeds, wigan, bradford, saints, even warrington and hull,as raaaay says success for us was drawing one of these clubs in a cup competition. 81 years have gone by without us winning the league, 60 years without a major trophy, of course it matters to us!
fans of successful clubs should remember where Huddersfield have come from, the very bottom! we used to watch cup finals, grand finals, premiership finals and could only imagine ever being there.we used to watch the big clubs on scrumdown. sky big league etc and could only ever dream of playing teams like leeds, wigan saints never mind beating them convincingly at their own grounds!
bear in mind that if or hopefully when we win the LLS we will become the only team to have played in the 2nd and 3rd divisions to top super league, the only team to finish bottom and top of super league, the first non traditional top flight team to top super league
so of course it matters of course its important to a club like ours, its like swinton winning the LLS in 15 years time, sounds unbelievable doesn't it?? would we tell swinton fans it means nothing unless they win the grand final?
our club has risen from the very bottom to the very top in less than 25 years, would leeds or wigan fans think it means nothing if that was their club? we were whipping boys of the league 10 years ago, would wigan and leeds fans think it means nothing if that was their club?
heck, even 4 or 5 years ago we were still happy to see our club compete with the best teams and stay in super league, things have changed and have changed quickly for us, yes we would all like to go on and win the grand final, but winning the LLS is as good as that for us right now.
let us enjoy our very rare moment of glory should we win it, yes others might dismiss it as unimportant in the grand scheme of things when all they have known is their club competing in finals all their lives, but winning ANYTHING is a massive achievement for our club and something none of us have the experience of!
I still cant quite believe what is happening to us,and I intend to enjoy it despite how important glory laden fans of other teams see it.

| Good points made lads...no club has risen as much as we have, while Wigan, Leeds, Wire, Saints, Bulls etc were battling it out in the top league and vying for all the cups we were a club still trying to wake up from its dark days ....As Raaaymond says, Alex Murphy opened one eye, then Ken Davy the other and in 20 years we slowly rose from the doldrums.
Those teams were mentioned were only ever seen by us on the TV or the couple of occasions we got lucky and drew them in the cups.....

| Perfect post Meast.
I like that point about being the only club to have risen through all three divisions to top the league.
That's something special there.

| I have to say well done to Huddersfield. The LLS looks sewn up now, and while I'm a bit surprised that you lot have been so consistent all year, it's a great achievement for any side and doesn't get the recognition it should. When Wire won it the other year, there were plenty of our fans complaining that it didn't get any respect - if we can't go on to win the GF this year, I hope you lot do, as the table shows you've been the best.
