| have to feel abit for the club on the game day change, they didnt really have much choice
town will of been offered a six figure sum from itv to be shown on tv, if the giants said no then that would not of been good for the relationship of the two clubs which is already strained with the shares issue.
would of been interesting if wigan said no though
hopefully there will be abit of compensation for the giants from the tv money town receive.
anyway if we win happy days!
also bookies put us up at 13/8 to win and +6 on the handicap...got to be worth a punt that at 13/8.

Just to clarify we could not have said no. The FA demand their clubs have first call on their ground so once ITV wanted it the Giants could do nothing about it.
It was never about money or the relationship between HT and HG I am affraid and would have been the same if the game had been a home game for Hull FC, Wigan Warriors, London Irish, The Ospreys etc etc and even if we owned the ground and rented it to a football league club they would still have total control over when their games were played and we would have to move games to suit their needs in circumstances like this.

I would love to know who exactly gave the FA and ITV this god like power that they can dictate what goes on.
Don't get me wrong. Not really bothered about the game move, but why does the FA cup need to come first over everything else. Its not like ITV don't have enough airspace on there 4 channels that they could'nt accommodate the game on a Monday night, therefor going head to head with sky sports Monday night football.
Mind you, not being a footy supporter i would still rather watch 2 teams at the top end of there leagues, rather than 2 teams at the bottom of there leagues only playing mediocre football at best. ITV are probably sulking that they got the bum end of the deal in that regard. 2 hours of a yawn fest coming up, same as the previous game.

I agree but in leagal terms Premier/Football League clubs have to have "Primacy of tenure" before being granted membership. I do wonder if HTFC did mention there was a game planned when the FA or ITV came knocking and if suggestions were made to play on Saturday and have Oldham v Everton on the Sunday. In truth that would be a better game anyway but there you go.
The sad thing is if Leicester Tigers were home on Sunday the game could not have been planned for the Sunday as the police there have banned both sides from being home on the same day and FA rules could not have altered that and obviously ITV would have gone elsewhere rather than having an either or situation which could have left them having nothing to show.

Yes. If the football club couldn't have this guarantee then they wouldn't rent the stadium off the RL club as it would invalidate their membership to the football or premier league. Doesn't bother me at all. It's good for the town as a whole for both pro clubs to be doing well and I don't understand the bad feeling so called residents of huddersfield have with either team depending on what side of the fence you sit on.

The stand out fixture of an upset was the town/Leicester v Wigan game so was wanted at the prime time spot on Sunday afternoon at 1600. Money talks in sport like we all know and most of it comes from the tv companies.

It is how it works...For The Liberty Stadium Swansea City and the Ospreys have an equal stake in its ownership (a third share each, the council holding the other third) but to all intents and purposes the Swans play when them or Sky/ESPN TV dictate and the Ospreys have to live with it, the situation gets muddied even more as the Premiership do not allow games to be played on the pitch the day before one of their games so the rugby teams fans have no real pattern to when their team plays with games nearly equally spread between Friday Night, Saturday or Sunday and the further complication of most games being shown live the times S4C or BBC Wales want to show them.
In truth if Huddersfield Town were ever to make the Premiership we would certainly expect to be shunted round at the whim of TV and if Wigan Warriors having to move a play off game to Widnes a few seasons back did not bring the Premiership to its senses I do not think anything will and whilst it is unlikely a RL club would own outright a ground that a Football League club would want to play on if it did happen they would in effect be second class citizens in their own home.

Stand out fixture in whose world???
How many neutrals give a toss if Wigan go out of the Cup and think the viewing figures will reflect that, Oldham v Everton would have been better for that slot as alot of football fans will not see that game as they will be travelling back from their own sides game on Saturday.
Quite why we need 6 live games out of the 8 FA Cup ties is another matter and reeks of overkill in a competition that is very much a poor 3rd to the league and Champions League and will see clubs put out shadow sides up and down the country.

Read the post fully STANDOUT FIXTURE FOR AN UPSET and also at the time ITV probably thought that Leicester were the likely winners and they've got quite a big pull. We've got 6 games on due to tv paying a lot of money for the rights and a 4th round replay still to be settled. I don't see Fartown complaining as a club when we get chosen to be either on sky or the bbc or the club turning tv money away!!!

Leicester a big pull???....in a circle that includes Loughborough and Hinckley maybe (even local rivals Derby and Forest fans do not care about Leicester let alone the other 99.99% of football fans)
Go to your bookies and see odds on a Huddersfield win, no shock at all if they knock Wigan out and if Leicester had won the replay they would probably have been favourites to win the tie.

When the tv fixture were announced it was a good game that could result in a shock. Fans like shocks in football. You should be in charge of ITV sports as you clearly know more than they do with regards to viewing figures and advertisement sales.
