got that decision wrong, been suffering at full back ever since.... still suffering now in such a vital position.

currently exiled abroad , thinking of batemans dark mild and fartown: |

| my memory of brett going was that many fans , myself included , thought it was a risk giving a bloke his age a 2 year contract .Especially as he had had a few injuries during the season . My memory also tells me we had few complaints about grix at full back last season , or that we were displeased at signing edan . Hindsight is great , unfortunatly you never have it at the right time .

| Thats pretty much how I remember it too camraman
Hodgy was a risk that paid off for Wire
Grix was a shockingly good replacement for him and no one missed Hodgy
People were clammering for Eden to be signed on at all costs and IMO he is still the best fullback at the club and has the potential to be one of the best in the game, that potential wont be realised if he isnt playing though

| I think they tried to learn the lesson by giving Gilly an extension. That didn't turn out so well. At the end of the day loads of stuff has gone on in the last 3 years that have annoyed a lot of people. A clear out was needed and looks to have started. If it occurs again the club must look at factors that are constants ie Thewlis and take action.

| Brett has been great for wire- but I don't think keeping him would necessarily been the best thing for the giants regardless. He has still had a lot of time off the field with various injuries- I think that would have disrupted us more than it has wire. Grix wouldn't have increased in confidence to the point he was at last season and Eden wouldn't have got all the experience he has do far.

| It's a shame that KB is coming in for so much stick now. He's done OK for us. He has been played out of position consistently (he is not a 6 or 13 but a good centre three quarter). That was NB's fault for trying to stick a square peg in a round hole. I think there is a real parallel between the two Browns....they could achieve only so much but they reach a certain level & can go no further.
I would add this though. At Belle Vue this season Brown's one on one tryline defence saved four, maybe even five dead set walk in tries. He did a ton of hard work for us that seems to either have gone unseen or has been conveniently overlooked/forgotten.
It is time for him to go, but I wish him good luck for the future.

| All he needs is his confidence back and I think with NB leaving he can try and start over a fresh. Not sure the Browns got along very well these last few months!
As for the full back thing I totally agree with camraman.

IIRC Grix was a make-do and never intended to play there long term. We were after Patten as Bodgey's replacement, but he didn't want to come. Hence Eden was signed in the close season.

yes we were in for patten like you say but he opted for salford, been a good player for them too.
lets get it right though, we signed murphy for the full back role for this season, he didnt play early on as he was out injured...therefore eden got his chance and took it. when we signed eden no one really expected to see him play much, i remember alot of people moaning whos this eden lad etc.... he came to us as a winger and nathan brown didnt really know which was his best position

| Yeah, and he has been brilliant and error ridden in equal measures at fullback
Only playing time will improve is errors, time on the sidelines will blunt his attacking prowess.

| Kevin wont play again this season
Brett Hodgson was offered 2 years but deal at Warrington was better
Patten's defence is woeful but he's very good in attack
