| Does it really matter if people sing or not?
Regardless of how 'vocal' each of our supporters are, the one thing we all have in common is that we all shout and cheer when we score or look like scoring, when a big shot goes in, when the ref makes a bad decision, when Eorl gets brought off after a 79 minute spell etc...
Surely this natural and unpredictable show of emotion creates more atmosphere and mean more to the players??
Oh, I agree with the swearing bit as well - when our 'singing section' at Wakey started with the swearing chant it was all a bit embarrassing. Standing is a bit more contentious though. I tend to jump up when we are near to the line or a very bad call, but maybe that is because the people in front of me have stood up. From another point of view, I go with my dad who is getting on in years and can't jump up as quick as everyone else, so he gets really frustrated that he misses an important play or score. Similarly with my young lad who I am constantly lifting in the air - it's a good as a work out for me going to a Giants game!!
Maybe segregation is the way - a stand for the singers, a stand for the standers, a place for the swearers (maybe the corporate boxes so they can be shut it!), a stand for the bovril drinkers etc...

| In a way we have a singing section and its been in place since August 1994, at the back of the Kilner bank stand......the singers from the Fartown/Leeds road days originally went up there to try and generate what atmosphere we could and also to not sit among those people who didnt want to sing therefore not annoy them.
Over the years many of us originals are still there(some with our kids these days) along with the new generation who know that if they want to sing and make noise during the game then the place to go is the back of the Kilner.
I like sitting where i sit - i have done for 18 years and we do it because we are more tolerant of each other regarding shouting and swearing....although i do tell people not to swear as their are kids up there too....to avoid upsetting people further down the stand who dont wish to be subjected to singing and shouting.
Its not about where the singers sit its more to do with the willingness of others to join in when the songs do start up.
Those that want to sing but feel uneasy where they are are more than happy to come up to the back and the more people that sing at the back will raise the volume and therefore persuade others further down to join in which they tend to do when there is a large vocal backing anyway.
At the end of the day if you want to sing at games then do it ....its not a crime, but i will not move from where i've been sat for 18 years, and the thought of having to 'manufacture' a specific area where people can sing doesn't appeal to me one bit.
Sorry if that doesn't fit well but thats my stand on it !!.

| Agree about the swearing at the Wakey game ...although it wasn't the singers in general it was a couple of folk who had had 1 too many beers but plenty told them to cut the swearing and they did.
i dont like songs that contain swearing as like i said we do have a few younger fans at the back too and will shout my discouragment when those said chants start....sing all ya like guys but no swearing please!

| Going to a rugby match doesn't give anyone an excuse to stand and swear get "passionate" about their team!
The singing section at Town games attracts the worst kind and like sheep many follow. It's not a atmosphere generator it's a place where absent minded idiots congregate and use it as an excuse to bend the rules and if they don't get their way they then use it as an excuse "but we're supposed to be creating an atmosphere"! Many decent Town fans avoid this area like the plague! The best atmosphere created at that stadium is when all the stands are singing not just a corner! So I can't see how a specific section created would help at all!!

| I will sing any song but hardly ever swear when it comes to singing songs. I may swear then and again at the ref or the opposition players but as giantdaz said people who was doing it at wakey was drunk.
People in the other stand wont move over to the BR stand and people up top will not move and i understand that. I think the best option is too anyone who wants to sing move upto the top tonight. They is plenty of room so personally that is the best option

| Always been a singing section at the back of the kilner bank...and still is
problem is its at the back, but we cant go in the middle because of season tickets holders and they wont move so wont happen
the singers in the other stand wont come over to the kilner bank either

| I presume the club keep an area clear of ticket holders in the Kilner Bank Stand for the Sky studio to reside during live matches?
That would be an ideal section for singers to move to -at the top, enough space and a decent, central view.

| Are we wanting the players to hear us chant if so at the back is not the option. I can hardly hear you sat in middle. Sat at the back sounds good at the back only. To generate atmosphere you need to sit near middle so it will spread. Some chants should be dropped aswell, we need more player chants and stick with fartown and Huddersfield chants which most people sing.

| but people in the middle dont want to sing and shout and probably wont be too chuffed with the noisy lot sitting amonst them.
We have plenty of chants but because no one wants to join in with them they just drone out .....the players can hear us on the pitch as they have told us they can so i'm sure the people in the middle can too. instead of people complaining where not making enough noise how about joinig in and making it louder ?

| I don't think the amount of chants is the problem, yes we have loads but some of them we should drop. Oh and please let's get the Barmy army back and not claret and gold army as this sounds too messy which affects the volume of it! I do sit in middle and chant but to only some.. (fartown, Huddersfield) and try to stand up to the stand up chant but sit quickly as people behind me don't bother.

| I'll chant with any song, I just wish more would join in. You feel a bit of a pleb when you're singing on your own.
