I agree - He was one of the few bright 'stars' in a cloud of mediocrity on Friday

Most top SL clubs are / will be looking at the fb position.

Webb / Hodgson / Greenshields / Wellens / Tomkins all moving or likely to be moving soon.

Greg Eden is head and shoulders the highest error maker in SL. Some closest to him on errors are ball players who have much more possession. If in the next 12 months he can cut his error rate by 60-70% he will be in the England squad 2013.

I hope we sign him. As it has pointed out on a previous post there are a lot of full backs that are coming close to the end of their careers. Most worringly is Wellens at saints, he is still positionally sound defusing many bombs and controlling the game. However he does not have the pace he once had, a young lad (like Eden) would learn a lot from him and has the raw talent and pace to become once of the best full backs there has ever been.
Eden still has some way to go but the potential is there for all too see and good god he is exciting when he is chiming into the line! icon_biggrin.gif

He's got another 18 months to run on his contract I take it? Sounds a very good player and as you mention Saints will surely be looking, particularly if Nathan Brown rates him highly. Wellens is off contract at the end of the season so I guess what they do with Wellens will impact on any potential offer for Eden. I'd like to see Wellens released, but as club captain it's hard to see them doing that.

All very hypothetical at this stage, but it could make it awkward behind the scenes at the Giants? Has there been anything in the local press about talks for a new contract? With him being a success this year and being talked up in the press, it's hard to see how he'd stay another 18 months on the same contract he's on now. Renewal and salary increase or sold would appear to be the most likely outcomes?

I reckon he'll end up following Brown to Saints, i think one of your halves and a prop will also follow him to 'tellins

I don't say this to be disrespectful but Saints are a bigger team than Hudds, in fact a bigger team than my own Wire so players leaving to go there wouldn't surprise me.

I think the bigger club and knowing the coach well will make it hard to resist.
Brough is a bit of a journeyman player so could see him going possibly Larne Patrick.

This is all conjecture like, but i can see Brown trying to raid Hudds in some key areas that Saints lack a little.

I can see a bid for Eden being realistic, especially if any fee was reduced by players going the other way. But Patrick has just signed a long term deal and Brough would be expensive as well. I can't see Saints going Man City, despite the obvious need to improve the squad.

I thought McManus was loaded, it's about time he shelved the plans for cladding and bought some decent players, and not no marks like Hohioa

i reckon eden will be with us a lot longer than 18 months. Once Lunt went to Leeds that was prob nailed on. Nor will any halves go to Saints, nor any decent props.

Would not be surprised to see Brett hodgson go to Saints on a one year deal. Close to NB, able to play the fb role the way Nb likes it esp at 2nd receiver + top goal kicker.

Also brown admires briers. If he is ooc i can see a tempting 2 year deal being offered. All with no transfer fees so McManus will be happy.

Indeed if there is any truth in Wolves releasing harrison i think NB would look at all 3.

Patrick signed a long deal knowing NB was going and Brough is settled in Hudds is a friend of our MD and loves it at the club (it is not such a bad place).

the saints problem is that players like lance, perry, foster and shenton are earning for more than anyone else will pay them...off loading these players will be very difficult.

Can't see Hodgson going, the thing with Brett now is he needs to be wrapped in cotton wool, Wire have plenty of depth so we are able to rest him and bring him out when we either need him or he 's come through a game unscathed.

Playing Brett in a team which would want him on the pitch on one leg doesn't benefit anyone.
