| Having watched Bulls on Saturday I would gladly have Peltier instead of Mellor.Bigger and stronger and more robust.

Pettier couldn’t get anywhere near our squad though- he tried remember and couldn’t cut it. Bigger and stronger he may be - but that doesn’t make him better.
I’m not too concerned if mellor goes. We have two better players in wardle and taai-who i’d like to see back there- and some just as good ie Murphy. Hewitt looks a great prospect too. Plenty of players like mellor out there.
If he wants to stay for the right price then good stuff. He decides to go it’s not the end of the world.

| peltier is a prop totally different to mellor
hard one with mellor still young and shows some good stuff, we dont want another connor situation!
i do like my second rowers abit bigger than him though and sometimes his defence lacks
oops best not say too much might upset someone and it gets called bashing

Mellor is 5th in the whole of superleague for tackles, and has a 94% tackle success rate.
Please explain how you think his defence lacks.

| you can't be held to ransom, we've over paid players before now though. I do rate him however and think he is a very good strike 2nd rower who can cover centres too. Be a shame to lose him. I would surprised if he did go, I got the indication negotiations were close from what was said on the full eighty show the other week.

| He's been one of Giants best players this season. Far less injury prone than Taii and I doubt very much that Murphy will last much longer as he's destroyed his body. Ferguson plays three games a season.
Mellor leaving would be a huge loss and would show that Giants are back in the position where other clubs come to pick off the best of their young talent.

| I really rate Mellor, he was outstanding last year and has been good this year, from what I heard he wanted to stay, I think he will just think they are after a few more quid, to be fair he probably is one of our lowest paid back rowers and is one of the best

| I also think Mellor will stay and will probably sign a 3 year deal.
Our issue is we have hardly no other players OOC this time other than Matagi and Farrell. Bruno im led to believe has signed. So its hard to see how we are going to strengthen the squad next year.
The year after we have Murphy, Clough Ferguson, Walne, Frawley & Taai OOC of which probably Murphy, Clough, Ferguson & Taai may retire at that point.
Its extremely hard to see Fergie and Murph getting new deals beyond their current ones even if they dont retire. As too at this moment in time I think it would be poor to give Frawley and Matagi new deals beyond their current ones.
For next year id probably let Matagi go and resign Mellor. Id then try and promote Dom Young, Ross Whitemore and Jack Flynn to the first team. Next year try and progress further and reach the play offs and then the year after we can hopefully really strengthen.

I don’t understand what you mean. He has a high tackle success rate. Why would teams see that as a weakness in defence?

| Chester Butler at Halifax is of course a ready made replacement for him.
Butler and Mellor together would see the Giants through the next 5 years.

Woolford seems keen on him. I’ve heard good things.

I've seen quite a few fax games over the last couple of years. He's a talent.
Probably him and Grady are the only Fax players who would get in a Superleague side.
