| How is it that the only person surprised and taken aback by Huby moving in is our very own MD? Does he actually even work at the club or read any rugby league press. We have all known it was likely he would move on for weeks! To say what he has done today on the club website is ridiculous.
Perhaps I ought to tell him that is now 7 out and only 3 in so far. Maybe Thewlis would consider that information as coming from "leftfield" as well

| The press release is a complete pack of lies. Have no idea why the club puts out statements like this.
Rick Stone informed Huby to find another club back in October and the club has been working to find him another club ever since.
Clubs never tell you the full story but this version is insulting the intelligence of its own supporters. But this is Thewlis' doing so why are we surprised.

| so we have smith rapira Clough and Mason as true props in our side.
We had a squad that was too small last year so smith gets busted in the first three games again and rapira gets an injury the week after where does that leave us? You have to question what's going on you seriously do. No way can we find a top class prop at this time of year-preseason is already in full swing!
If Huby wasn't going to honour his contract he should have said last year- we could have kept ferres - he's a toad but at least he gave us value for money which we haven't got from Huby!

| "Our focus as well as the pre-season training programme now includes further recruitment which at this time of the year is far from ideal, however these are the cards we have been dealt and we move on from the past and look forward with excitement and confidence to the start of the Super League season.”
This load of tosh sounds to me like that will be his excuse when all the fans kick off when we announce Ryan Bailey in a Giants shirt. I will be FUMING if this is the case.
We currently have 1 EXPERIENCED prop in our team and loads of youngsters. When we have 2 quota spots available and we are losing experienced British players such as Huby and Eorl. Unless we sign a Burgess or a Graham I don't see how they can be replaced so easily as most squads from UK have been complete - which makes me think the Bailey rumours could be true.
I think people need to wake up and realise how badly the club is run. We must have ridiculous amounts of cap space available at the moment.
We have lost:
Huby, Crabtree, Johnson, Grix, Connor, Wood & Ellis and still potentially Wardle and replaced with Clough, Gaskell & Ferguson and we were extremely short of players last season.
Although most of the players which have left I agree with we are still massively short of around 3/4 maybe 5 decent players now if we are going to compete in top 8 and push for top 4 again - I just can't see it happening or where players are going to come from as most UK teams are complete.
The only other British prop I can think of available is Ben Harrison but I would much rather have Huby.

| It's all ok though. Don't panic. We may be woefully short on players but at least Thewlis made a new pal in Michael Carter and shared a real synergy. Glad he decided to include that information with the news,it really softened the blow. Thanks Rich

Probably Ryan Bailey when he had a very brief stint at Cas Tigers in 2015.

True jools, If he comes there will be a lot of unhappy fans i would think.
I don't think Huby has ever been the player for us that he was for Cas Though i know some do " Fair enough " But we are in danger now of starting off worse than we did last season.
What is beginning to worry me is that we are going to sign a really big name Aussie( who may be past his best ) and expect him to work miracles on his own, It wouldn't be the first time, Though not always been an Aussie.
The statement from R Thewlis is really disappointing, Still i can think of one or two who will be revving up their spin wheels.

| This week Connor said his contract negotiations were ongoing for three months ! I posted Huby to Wakey 3weeks ago. Ferguson they could not offload. Yet again Thewlis comes out with lies, when will Ken realise that he needs replacing. He is pulling the Club down and Rick Stone in the peocess.

What he is actually quoted as saying is, that Huby was seemingly happy at the club and very much part of the plans until a few days ago, regardless of what the media/social media say, if the player says he's happy then the club have to take that as gospel.
So Huby then asks to leave, so what do we do? agree to release him, presumably for a fee? or make an unhappy player stay?
Can't see anything wrong with what the club or Thewlis has done or said, to me, it's just another "bash the club" thread!
Good luck to Chubs, it never really worked out for him here for various reasons.

| Pinocchio Thewlis is in full flight now, he can't help himself.
He also lies to people within the club, even former coaches. "Thewlis is driving the club into the ground" - That was from somebody who was employed by the club until the middle of June!
How Thewlis still has a job is beyond me. Surely the only thing saving him is he's a friend of the Davy family. His arrogance is beyond words.

We are pushing it mighty fine. If we don't get 2/3 players in over next 2/3 weeks we are going to have had almost a full pre season where:
1 senior prop (Rapira) is going to be trying to bring on the rest of the youngsters during the whole of the pre season. If Rapirs gets injured we are F***ed.
No recognised full back participating in all of pre season.
Brough our main influence out till almost Christmas with his injury and not participating in most of pre season
Joe Wardle unsure whether he will be going to Newcastle or not.
Id say things are looking extremely bad for us at the moment and we are in a world of trouble with only 2 Quota spots available and pretty much NO English players within reason available. If we are looking at the likes of Bailey/Harrison etc we are going massively backwards.

Somewhere in the dust of time rest the bones of the Galilean
He who was spat upon. He whose face was marred beyond all human likeness
Somewhere buried among the lies of the past rests the tomb of Yeshua
Of he who was made God in a world without Hope.
And when this son of Joseph is found. What then will the Church of Rome say?
Prepare yourself for the day is coming. And men will say
"Blessed are the wasted lives who perished in the flames of the holy war": |

What I would expect him to say is "Thank you for your honesty Craig. We will of course accede to your request and make you available. However I think you have to understand that from our point of view you are an experienced prop forward. Having already lost Eorl Crabtree it would be foolish of us to release you without an adequate replacement. Therefore, although we won't stand in your way, we would expect you to be professional enough to continue your commitments to this club as per the four year contract you signed just two years ago. Until such a time as we can put something in place regarding a replacement."
I wouldn't expect him to offload him with indecent haste and then release a statement that says that I have no idea what is going on at my club re personnell relationships and that i've yet again released a player in the full and frank knowledge that we haven't a replacement which just reinforces the aura of incompetency that surrounds me.
But maybe that's just me.
