| Examiner reporting over 20 applications have been received by the club. the fact there has been so much interest is very pleasing. (Ok I know Goulding will be one)
They also state in another piece "and added to the reported list of potential candidates is former Giants player Brad Drew," whether that's someone they know has applied or a name they've picked up from us fans /on social media is another matter.
Nothing will be happening on that front until at least next week.
I would imagine it will be at least the end of July before we have someone permanent in place.
What are our thoughts?
Drew would be a very good coach, he worked well with Thorman in the past and the two have a lot of respect for one another from what I remember- he has a great tactical brain and has proven himself to be a good leader and motivator on the field. - can he do that from the stands though - and would he have the necessary experience.
Jason demeteriou is another who's name has been mentioned- would the Giants want an Aussie coach? Who else would we WANT at the Giants and who would we want to avoid at all costs.
For me Harris (the Connor thing won't have helped there) and noble are a no.

| Deffo not McNamara, he showed his true colours by not having Broughy in his 42 man squad that year when Broughy won everything going except the World's best player where he was third.

Yet their brave bid came to a stunning end when Cudjoe stepped out of the defensive line to intercept a pass and then run away for a 90-metre effort. (Times 2)

| FRANKLY - whoever is holding a hot potato and from my viewpoint its wait and see as all applicants and some of the posters faves will ALL have varying levels of R.L. knowledge
but how many many times do we hear "This is the man for the job /the man to take us forward / the coach weve been after etc etc etc ...........to be then tyold about his successor " hes the man etc etc again when hes shown the door frankly I get bored hearing it THE PROOF IS TRULY IN THE PUDDING - IF NOT FROM DAY 1 -its gotta be within a couple of seasons or 3 with most professional sport b of directors
no whoever we chose will have to have first class knowledge of the game /and the players on his shopping list (if avaiailable at the right fee /be abler to instill in his squad total confidence in his aims and methods /convey his game plans clearly to his lads and have them follow it/ and finally and most importantly i m o be able to handle 20 - 25 fellas with differing skills / ability/ and most of all temparaments in the way EACH INDIVIDUAL NEEDS to bring out the best in him within a timeframe and budget stipulated by the board !
-and at the same time take all the s--t thrown at him on RL fans when the results dont come or the team dont perform PIECE O CAKE!
SIMPLES - NO WONDER THERES 20 APPLICANTS! :wink
Next please!!:
