| its probs been done to death but im having a go anyway. how can we charge 24 quid on the door for that entertainment its just so frustrating, dont get me wrong for a big game when loads ov entertainment is put on for the kids ect fair play, but for that game ,well im more than inpresed with the 5.500 turn out. 4 of us went today so thats 96 quid pluss beer food ect probs around 150 quid, i understand thats good money for the club but i can garentee 2 of our 4 wont go agen. infact i have many friends who would like to come to games but just can't afford. i have allways thaught that it would be better to charge 12 to 16 quid and get 10 thousand crowd thats 10 thousand people buying shirts food drink ect and would be far better bussiness in the long run...
now befour i get my head bitten off with ked d tries that and people dont show up. i have to say that once in a blue moon isnt good enough, your once in a while fans probs never here about it befour the game has come and gone.
infact i think the marketing of the giants is poor to non , unless you read the examiner or walk through the pack horse every week i carnt see much else going on, most of our advertiseing come's from the die hard fans like i said befour i bring friends, the game is boring ,the aptmasphere dull and its expensive ,so why should they come back.
look am not saying i have all the answers but i do no abit about premotion nyt clubs ect and no that you realy have to get in the publics face to make them remember things, i would start with the gate fee to lesser games!
just to add one thing huddersfield is a massive town and should realy be a city so the people are there.
wigan is not exactly a massive place but they get 15 + regular, some people at the giants club get paid a wage to get people through the gate and arnt doing there job,the team has done what we asked and won something so someone needs to pull there socks up in the marketing department.
thoughts ????

| £21 if pre purchased...the club do a new 'click and collect' service too.
my season ticket for this season was £184 so around £14 a game, cant grumble about that.
if your going to start lowering the day charge then people will stop buying season tickets which is a lifeline for the club.

i understan 14 quid a game for season ticket holders is ok but thats jus it your a season ticket holder you are allready a hooked fan .im geting at the fact we are trying to atract more fans, my argument is at the cost and aptmasphere for the non die hard. and still 24 quid is alot of money ie for 2 people thats 48 quid so thats a meal n drinks or cinima n drinks the list goes on of the things wer trying to compeet with

| Got to completely agree with you. I don't understand how they can condone £24!!! If people think that £24 is acceptable to watch what was on display today then you must be deluded!

| Very valid points Squiffdog the marketing is awful at best. They seem to think contacting season ticket holders is the answer but they are already hooked. It's irrelevant what other clubs charge it's what our club charges and how they get bums on seats that's the issue. As a season ticket holder I know that there will (or should be) various offers during the season and I'm happy with that if it increases crowds. As you say there is lots of competition in the entertainment industry and we have to find a way to compete. On today would it have made a difference if we had played tonight? Not a school night because of hols.

| im afraid i have to agree, £24 is steep, now before people start firing back i know it's the top league and how it compares to football and RU etc but we are supposed to be trying to attract new fans to the club and the sport, and charging £24 to me is not going to help.
i know season ticket holders are the lifeline etc but the club surely have to do other things to get bums on seats, today for instance, a bank holiday, nice weather leading up to the game, some people will have not made plans and would have been looking for things to do, so what did the club do to try and attract people to come to the game? nothing as far as i was aware, quite a few people in town before the game weren't even aware that the giants were playing today! and we got a pitiful attendance of 5,347!
the cinema next door was heaving with people as im sure the shopping centres/garden centres were. we should have done more to get people to come and watch a game of rugby league ( although the quality today was poor)
it's all well and good saying the season ticket holders have put money into the club but even some of those probably found other things to do today.
the reason the likes of wigan and leeds can attract people who are willing to pay £24 is because they are successful and are a popular pull for the people in those area's,the giants clearly are not attractive to the people of huddersfield.
i fear unless the cost comes down and/or the trophy cabinet fills up that our crowds will continue to disappoint

| So let's charge £10 a game that will help..... Oh no actually it doesn't because charging that price didn't make a great deal of difference to the home support did it--although the Leeds fans certainly took advantage--- in fact we gave seats away for FREE and still didn't half fill the stadium!!!!

| Comes back to marketing ultimately and Meast is right, how do you get people in if they don't know there's a game? Not sure how much PR work the players do in the area .....this can only help as well. Who is the marketing guru anyway, is it Brammer? This subject was discussed last year and it seems nothing has changed.

| The average joe still doesn't turn up whether its free a tenner or £24!! It's all been tried before!! £24 on the door is relatively cheap considering how much it is watch a second tier football team that share the stadium!
Even if its £15 which is what London charged last year they'd still be fans looking out for cheap tickets meaning the club still miss out! They can't win they need as much money to be sustainable yet they're battling folk wanting summat for nowt or near enough! They can't under value themselves neither they can't win!
Given that there is hardly any advertising in town centre they did give it a go for the kr game but done nothing since the marketing like the fans want summat for nowt it would seem!

| the point about 2nd tier football is irrelevent nic, people will pay to watch town because it's football, it's promoted, people are familiar with the name huddersfield town and familiar with football, people will pay to watch football regardless.
as for us, you are right that they can't under value themselves, i am guilty of using cheap tickets, but season tickets that are already paid for so i'm not doing the club out of money.
i just think there is not much we can do without really going to town on the marketing of the club, this year should have seen us push the club to the people of huddersfield as much as we can on the back of the first league win in 81 years but what has been done?
we can't just expect people to turn up willing to pay £24 when most people who aren't ST holders just use someone elses who cant go.
