| A good win for us but Wigan or Wire would have pushed on at 25-6 and scored 40.
We stopped doing what was working started forcing silly passes in the middle dropped the ball several times and invited Saints back into the game.
When he's fit again I would play Fuey instead of Dwyer he can do two roles and his dummy half play is much better.
Ta'ai has the potential to be a real star both in attack and defence there were a few Saints avoiding him after his big hit.
Ferguson is starting to show why we signed him and deserves another contact fur me.
I saw Stu Fielden before the game he looked shot to me I'm afraid hope I'm wrong.
Finally in patches we played some good stuff never looked like losing so on to MS3 Craven Park for more of the same see you in the Well not great but far better than miles behind the sticks.

| From the otherside of the fence....
I'm dissapointed as a Saints fan. I thought a lot of our big lads had a great battle with your forwards. However, Brough's kicking to expose our slow back three was outstanding and complimented by a great chase. This is what caused you to dominate the first half.
If you're going to look for something to worry about, I'd go with the following.
Our defence outwide was pretty shocking. I think you that fact you didn't score more points is a concern. You did seem to sit on your lead at one point.
We had an awful lot of possession on your line for very little reward. Whilst you can only defend what was thrown at you, we did very little to test you and played with very little attacking structure. Wire, Leeds and Wigan (and watch out for Hull) will all test you a lot more out wide. Even if we'd have had Lomax back, we'd have made you work a lot harder for the victory.

| Saints look utterly clueless with ball in hand. That has to be a major concern. As such, Brough was the difference on the night. Invention, trickery, an intelligent kicking game - all the things Saints lacked.
It was a decent battle up front - I like the look of young Walmsley and I don't remember LMS taking a backward step - but thought Fartown edged that as well. It was Ukuma Ta'ai's best game in claret and gold by some distance, especially on defence. Brett Ferres is having a storming season and Wardle gets better every time I see him.
Hard work done in the first half, manage the scoreboard in the second. That seems to be the plan and it seems to be working.

I think where you may well have edged it up front was the line speed, there were more times when you had your tails up and were minimising our yard than the other way around, but I think you were mentally bouyed by the confidence gained from defending your line so effectively. That's was just another way in which we failed ourselves - our inability to construct a decent attack not only saw us without points, but also helped build up your confidence.
Its depressing to be a Saints supporter at the moment. I don't take losing that well normally, but losing when you're pretty sure you could have done (a lot) better is very annoying. Take Jordan Turner last night - he's been really good for us this season in the centre, but got moved to 6 last night and was crap. Why we've decided to do that the same week we've loaned an extra half back is baffling.

Thought Ta'ai really came of age last night after steadily getting better in the last few weeks and if there is more to come as it seems he could turn out to be one hell of a signing which did not look the case early in his Giants spell (I know there were mitigating circumstances but I am sure I was not the only one who suspected he may never live up to the hype).

Couple of handling errors and a couple of penalties, so I'm not going to go overboard, but it was a much, much better performance and for at least 75 minutes of the match. He finally looks up to speed after the well-documented lack of a pre-season. And if he was waiting for it to warm up, well it ain't gonna get much warmer than last night...
Oh, and first league double over Saints since the 1950s. They can't take that away from you.

| Totally agree with JOHND, apart from LMS, he got flattened by Eorl in the first half and really didn't know what day it was, but when he came back on in the second half he proved what a quality player he is.
Looked to me as though he had a point to prove.
I don't know why, but most of the Refs were sat in the Free seats, Ganson, Ben Filtham, Uncle Albert and Sharpy, amongst others, perhaps that was why Silverwood was showing off in front of his mates, it may explain some of his decisions.

Fair point and again our penalty count was high but think that is the case virtually every game and its not really coming back to hurt us....yet.

| We were very good in the 1st half when, to me, we got the game won, 2nd half we eased off, understandably considering we play again on Friday (madness !!) and allowed a very very poor Saints side to gain some respectability. I dont think we were in any danger of losing as we could have gone up a few gears if we needed to but it was an uneasy 15 minutes to watch.
Job done, 2 points in the bag at a low enough intensity to save bodies and energy for Friday.

It wasn't so bad last night. 7, I think. Always room for improvement, but less than one every ten minutes ain't so bad.

But as you say, we have HKR on Friday. No point going all out when the game was won when we only have a 4 day turn around.
[I suspect that if it had been closer, Lunty would have returned to the field. How impressive is he this season? Thank you Baloo for standing your ground and not giving in to NB last season!]

Thought Mr S had a decent game. Especially the Mullally/Gardner incident. He could easily have sent our man off. Thankfully he has no case to answer and Gardner is OK - well enough to be considered for selection this weekend.
Wardle's try is another point. I was convinced that he hadn't scored. Even the replays at the ground confirmed my decision. However, watching it on the SL Show, it clearly showed that Joe grounded the ball - albeit just. Well done Ian Smith.

| Good win lastnight and great to do the double over saints! how times have changed.
the game should of been over by half time with the murphy try that got disallowed due to the supposed bad tackle form mullally when gardner fell over
think we were abit guilty of overplaying though and saints made a mini comeback but job well done.
Taai put two massive hits in!
very good atmosphere lastnight too, the best ive known it at the giants in a long long time, lets keep it up.
was there a drum at the back of the brittania stand? seemed to help and also the barmy army chant went on for a while and the whole stand started to get involved and really enjoyed it!

This is exactly what i said, why risk injuries or having needless energy losses just for the sake of scoring a couple more tries to make the score look good when we play again in 4 days ?.
