| Confirmed by paul anderson in todays examiner
ROBINSON & BROUGH
(Lunt & Faiumu hooking)
after failing to sign anyone up and letting kev brown go i think this was the best alternative.. Robinson came to us as a stand off and it was his specialised position.
has to work on his kicking game in the off season, but behind the big pack we will have these two can run riot!
grix can cover if any injuries.
faiumu to start and lunt off the bench.
ok robbo was good at hooker but he took some hammering and was tried out by the forwards, hes a great little tackler though so no worries about his defence.
and can you really leave faiumu out of the team?? dont think so.. this way we get all the best players on the pitch
also leaves us money to spend during the season if needed

| That will also really toughen our edge defence, both Brough and Robbo defend very well

| Didn't Robinson come to us as a half-back rather than a stand-off though?
I agree that this was the best option with the current squad.

| Just the concern about Robbo's kicking game,or lack of it,leading to them rushing up on Brough.Plus Robbo off the bench scooting out of dummy half will be a loss, though when he was run on hooker he got targetted, and though never shirked owt in the tackle obviously the bigger blokes knocked him backwards at collision time, though no doubt Luke would have said,"well where were my props"
Brough always thought could do the job at pivot but ONLY IF they get good lines & good options coming off of him.
<scapegoating>Slight concern about Fooey at run on hooker,he needs to double pump passing the ball from the ground from dummy half anything over about 9 or 10 yards.Split seconds like that so vital in the SL,as the defence are half way up on to our halves by the second pump.</scapegoating>Sorry to be a cathode, just summat I noticed last game over at Hull.

| Am I the only person who remembers visiting the Willows on several occasions and Luke Robinson kicking us all over the park.
One game I seem to remember around 4 40-20's in one game!
One thing I think you'll see is Brough going to the left, Robinson to the right, and Grix filling the central position as distributer. It will allow Brough and Robinson to create the overlap on each edge with both have the speed & ability to go through the line.
Could work very well

| It was NB who moved Luke because he wanted a stronger kicking game from the halves.Grix has the 2nd best kicking game at the club imo.

| Robinson can't kick for toffee, might have had the odd game where he did, but on the whole dire. The season we have Brown and Robinson in the halves with the attacking kicks was painful. The excellent player that Robinson is, international hooker proven against the aussies, this is being forced upon us due to the unavailability of decent halves in the game.
Having said that can't understand why they don't keep Grix there, not the best but a better option than Robinson due to possessing a kicking game, and would be better playing behind a bigger pack.
Maybe this points to Andersons first choice of FB, which will be Grix.

i think when robinson was at salford he had the most 40/20 kicks in super league that season!! so he does have that kicking game somewhere.
people were worried about kicking last season, brough basically did it all on his own again, lee helped out now and again and grix but to no great effect really. although it was all behind a beaten pack.
you think grix will be ahead of eden at full back then?? eden played full back for the knights...so i think anderson will still go with eden, we shall see, grix is good cover for full back and halves

| Agree that with Brough & Robbo in the halves we won't have to try and hide either of them in the defensive line. They had Grix when at 6 last year, defending on the wing at times - not scapegoating - as someone typed up on here earlier - FACT

Is Brough the right choice to go to second receiver from the ruck now though ?

Doesn't necessarily mean it was the reason we did well. But things might change, people mentioning his good kicking games at Salford need to remember hes been with us longer and not been noted for his kicking in that time. Lets hope there is improvement. The Luke Robinson l've seen is a international class hooker but average half back with little kicking game.
