I hope they have both made a quick recovery too.
One question - why does everything always end up with "money" being mentioned these days?? Too much talk of being compensated for things.
Also pleased to hear that Fatz is doing OK too.

You'd be happy to lose your wage for a month or so because you couldn't because you had your face caved in by a professional rugby player?
Of course not. You'd want compensating for your loss of earnings.
There is the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board (Government body) to assist these people with their expenses through no fault of their own.

I know all about compensation claims, worked for over 10 years for a Solicitor doing personal injury claims.
I also know it will take 12 months or more through the CICA to get even close to receiving any money. I also agreed that if they have had losses they should be compensated but why not just leave your comments at "hope they are recovered" etc.
My point was that the first thing folks think of these days is being compensated for money. We all know that its a big thing nowadays to sue for compensation but we dont know all the circumstances, probably never will as its none of our business, and I think the original poster was simply advising us all that Fatz is now up and about and well again.
Sorry if my comments were misconstrued. No offence was intended to anyone.

| Nice to know.
As for compensation, it is sadly turning into a litigious society when it isnt really needed, not in a country where healthcare is free and sick pay is provided.
But some people think "redress" is the same as "something for nothing" too...

So you wouldn't want to be compensated for losing teeth and having to wear dentures for the rest of your life through no fault of your own? And not eveyone gets full sick pay or indeed would get it for an indefinite period - statutory sick pay is a whopping £79.15 per week.

I think the people would also prefer not to eat soup until they waited a couple of months for an operation to fix everything.
The world is not as rosy in real life you are lead to believe.

| What do you mean "led to believe"?
As I said, some people are confusing redress with compensation. I would want anyone to be out of pocket or suffer loss of earnings.

By governments
ie. Reduced waiting lists translates to making waiting lists harder to get in the first place.
Reduced unemployment translates to different ways of working out the figures to take out certain groups.
We always hear that things are getting better and anyone within any of the systems knows that is just not true.

| Ah, on that fact I do agree, but then its like the old joke about the government and opposition, both do and say exactly the same thing, no matter who actually occupies that job.

Are you talking about Incapacity Benefit, rather than SSP? SSP is not linked to NI contributions.
