At a meeting with the giants community lot the representative from my sons club asked and was told that 1800 season tickets have been sold!!! icon_eek.gif icon_eek.gif
I hope that figure is untrue- we sold over 6000 last season!

Maybe you want to reassess your views about NB being an unmitigated disaster for us.

I said at the end of the season that NB had left us in an almighty hole because of the disaster of a season we had and how it would affect season ticket sales.

viewtopic.php?f=26&t=537658&tsmp=1353245829

about 6 posts down.

I was right.

NB royally effed us over with his disaster of planning and now we are sowing the consequences of what he left us.

Having our worst season when it was clear season ticket prices would have to go up has royally screwed the club over.

Makes the Eden decision easier to understand.

This season coming will be a watershed for the club. Unless we have a good season to stabilise things we will be screwed as the decline will only get worse ( not helped by Town doing well).

If we have another season like the last one then the club can look forward to terminal decline.

Now is the time for the supporters club to focus it's energys on working with the club to promote the club to make sure it can keep going.

Jeez we do have a load of fair weather and totally fickle 'fans'

Things didn't go all our own way last season,so the attitude becomes for many - boo hoo,I'll just walk away.Incredible.

Attitudes like that are frankly a disgrace, there are a load of reasons why some people have not renewed, last seasons form being a smaller one, price increases will be another another, timing of fixtures and the effect on value for money is another, very significant reason.

Taking myself and family (2 adults and a student concession) as an example, last seasons form is not a factor, but we have not yet renewed (may do so but probably not). Due to being a student away from home my son got to four matches last year, so it would take some convincing to renew that one. As regards my wife and I various other commitments/circumstances make Friday and Monday matches extremely difficult so on the basis of last year that is four matches off, it is likely that at least one more will be missed due to holidays. As a consequence I am likely to attend no more than 8 home matches next season. A season ticket costs £ 199 where we sit or £ 192 pay at the gate. The ground is never likely to be so full we cannot get good seats and paying at the gate does not require a £ 400 lump sum now, costs will be spread throughout the season. We are not fickle fans it is likely we will attend as many away as home matches, if the scheduling suits we will be there, that means Saturdays or Sundays.

We have got a lot of young fans, which is good and the club have done well there, but I would think that families with younger kids will have similar issues with being able to make Friday and Monday matches, you can see that inside the ground, the family stand is significantly busier on Sundays than for evening matches. Excellent value season tickets are only excellent value if you can use them, that is little to do with "fickle fans".

It is not new that our crowds are significantly lower for evening matches (I mean the home areas), but season ticket pricing hasn't accounted for that, now I do not expect the club to cater for the unusual circumstances that affect my wife and I but I would expect them to cater better for the very many families with young kids with for example a family ticket that offers value against likely attendance which just is not 13 matches for families.

Good job 1800 could be bothered or you wouldn't have a club to come back to.

If this is right, then the club have got a lot of hard work, convincing people to return, there's no point people on here bleating about plastic fans etc. these are people the club needs to bring back, some of the points GiantDee has made will have some merit in them.

We're a club that hasn't won a MAJOR trophy in decades, - well before most will remember and after last seasons MAJOR let down, it's unlikely to be trophies thats going to bring them back, but some better marketing and the customer experience they get which clearly looking at those sales figures we're a long way off.

I havent renewed yet but i will be. what gets me is the lack of follow up from the club, ive had nothing in the post, via email or a phone call. Are they going to let the deadline pass and then panic when they have half the season ticket holders and season tickets that will then be triple the price of previous years?

Respect to the other 1799 Fartowners who have re-newed.

Pleased to say I have been able to introduce a new ST holder this year.Last year was the first time this lad had watched RL live, but already he is hooked, even went to away fixtures.

i've not got mine yet....still debating whether to renew or not due to my finances.
Paul, i understand your frustrations pal and it does grate with me too how some of our fans seem to be less tolerant than other clubs but i think the numbers sold this year have to be put into context.

Last year's performance and the price hike will certainly not have helped as a lot of our newer fans came on board on the back of the club pushing for honours and cheap season tickets deals - the trophies haven't come and the price has gone up so maybe some of the newer fans may have decided to not bother as they haven't got what they came for in that sense.
Plus those with families are having to fork out twice, maybe 3 times as much as last year and maybe have decided the spare cash wont stretch that far this time.
And to me, the off field debacles will also have contributed to some not renewing, having lost confidence in the club as a whole........it is a massive problem at the moment and its a huge shame for the hard work thats gone into the club in the last few years...but if people aren't getting value for money then i cant blame them for not renewing.
Think we needed a big marquee signing this off season to whet the appetite but that aint happening.

Daz,I knew there would be some who might be offended by my comments, but this is summat I feel strongly about.

After all Sir Ken fair gave the ST's away last time,so where is the loyalty now being reciprocated back to our chairman.

I know you do mate, and i agree to point but thats partly what i was saying .......they came to watch a cup final/grand final challenging team on the back of cheap deals - the trophies didnt come, the price went up and they have probably disappeared again till the next big game, in a way i dont expect loyalty from those type as they came along when the good times were rolling and i guess have no real loyalty to the club and was something to do on a sunday afternoon.

ATEOTD we dont know who has or hasn't renewed and their reasons why but like you its Ken i feel sorry for.
