| I know there has been a lot of threads and posts about Danny just lately with his form not being at it's usual level this season " last match set aside "
Myself i have regarded him as the best signing the Giants have made for a long time, He is still capable of controlling a game and on his day he is a proven match winner.
That said he is not going to go on forever and i wondered what other peoples thoughts are about him, I'm not really talking about his replacement, that should be well under consideration by now.
I'm wondering if people think he has a future at the Giants after his playing days are over, Would he be good on the coaching side of the game, He as all the skills to pass on, but does he have the skills to pass them on, He certainly has a bit of fire about him and sometime i really get the feeling we could stand some of that in the coaching. ( I remember A Murphy's style, and it worked very well )
Does anyone think DB has it in him to make a coach, He doesn't come over as someone who accepts anything but best effort, On the field, even when not in his best form he puts as much effort in as anyone in the side and more than most. He came to us with a rep for being a problem and although i get to know nothing from the inside, he doesn't seem to have been the bad boy he was supposed to be.
Just wondered what other people's thoughts might be.

| Watched his after match comments on Sky and thought the way he spoke about tactics was very informative. Besides skill he has knowledge by the bucketful and we would be stupid to let him pass this on to another club. Would love him to carry on here after playing.

| Think he will make a fantastic coach and hopefully with us. His knowledge of the game is unbelievable when you listen to him and he's such a master tactician. As for motivation and not accepting second best he is deffo the man.

| To be honest i dont think broughy would be a good coach because if you watch him he constintley shouts at people when they make errors when you should just tell them it doesnt matter and to a young lad that would be Awful.

| Broughy's talent and on field desire isn't really questionable.
If you build the club around somebody like we have we need to make sure replacements and future plans are in place. I'm still in the dark what that is, I'm not confident the club know what that is. That scares me a little.
He's the man we need to help us out of the mess we find ourselves in and I hope he sticks around after his playing career to help with our youth development or something.
Danny is born to play and can't see him hanging up his boots after his contract finishes. Question is do we keep him till then on field or make him a coaching offer he can't refuse

I have the idea that one of the reasons Danny has been such a success at Huddersfield, Is that in his time here he has been under coaches who have been shall we say" the quiet type". He has been our main man for so long, and has so much natural talent , I get the feeling he has been left alone to get on with it.
Myself i would prefer a more forceful coach and in that respect i think DB would fit the bill. The problem might be if he was the coach and we recruited say "another DB " I don't see him letting anyone get on with it.
I really hope he stays with us as well, but i would not be at all surprised if a offer from Toronto was more than he could resist, We shall see in the fullness of time .

| Danny is our best player and has been ever since he arrived. His career really took off with us and I believe he was a target by Thewlis and he got his man, so he can make good signings. I think he's the sort of player who would continue playing until his body gives up, so at some point might need to do that away from us, still would have him in a coaching capacity after his retirement.

Funny you should start this thread, I was just going to start one on the same subject. I believe we could offer Broughy a coaching role for when he finishes playing. I think we could get 2 more seasons out of him as a player if we are lucky, with him transferring into the coaching role as soon as he stops playing. He seems to have a knowledgeable insight into the game, and would not stand for mediocrity. He is a talent we should attempt to secure for the future.

Sounds like a plan.

| Club should be looking to ensure that Danny sees out his playing days with us. It is the least we owe him. He is still a class player and showing no signs of his age effecting his game, of course that will come but by then would hope we have his replacement and able to spell him in some games and rest out others. Will be disaster to see him go elsewhere too soon - remember Brett Hodgson!
Reckon he would make a very valuable addition to the coaching team and we would defo benefit from him being able to pass on his experience and knowledge of the game. Plus his attitude towards not accepting anything less than 100% in training and games wouldn't go amiss.

| Its the way to go, the cas coaching team consists of 3 ex half backs. Powell, Orr, and Sheridan and look at the style of rugby we play.
On the other hand Wigan have Wane.

I have been singing D Powell's praises for a long time mate, He has that knack of getting the very best out of players, But don't knock S Wane, his record is not to be laughed at and I'd put money on Wigan being in the mix when it comes, Plus they are there more or less year on year.
