| “But part of our DNA, the Huddersfield Town DNA, is to try it. To have passion, desire, spirit ... how big you are doesn’t count for everything.”
A bit different to the Giants DNA!

| Serious question.
Football clubs have a habit once they are in the top flight to get a bit snooty about sharing.
If Town were to give you 10% of that 200 million ie 20 million to fix up then to bugger off back to Fartown (or similar), would you?
A nice redevelopment for say a 12k - 14k stadium. All yours.
I would, as I reckon it would be the making of you. You will never fill the JSS, few RL clubs would. But a 12k stadium that was generally 75% full most games - I'd bite their hands off.

Yes, absolutely, but it is not going to happen. I think the key is to be self sustaining not fixated on a particular capacity. Think 10k is about right for clubs like ours and yours, big enough to get in everyone who really cares but create a bit of demand through being full a few times a year. Scarcity or perceived scarcity of tickets can help sales, nobody has ever worried about not getting in to a Giants game at the JSS.

It would be very helpful to move to a more appropriately sized stadium. But it would not be sufficient - the current management of the club would not know how to exploit it.

10k in the JS means staring at 15,000 empty seats
10k in a 12k stadium would lift the roof off the place
The atmosphere at the JS is very strongly linked to attendance size. If you fill it, the air crackles with excitement.
With 25,000 on, it is an incredible stadium - I’ve not been to one better. With 6,000 on its like sitting on a shaded park bench with lots of space to spread out.

We pay based on our attendance.it isedvyo be £5 per person- it may have changed.
10k In the 25k stadium would cost us £50.000
5k in the 25k stadium would cost us £25,000
There wouldn’t be much difference between 1000 or 10,000 in terms of cost in a 12k stadium. A little different in terms of numbers of stewards required. And we’d have to pay all the costs of running and maintaining it.
Think we have a good deal.

| Why all the fuss over Town. It`s over the top, they finished 5th from bottom and only missed relegation by a whisker. When we played in the middle 8s and survived to play SL the following year, there were no celebrations then.

It wasn’t worth 200 million to stay in SL....

| £200 million. Never reaches "Joe Bloggs" the spectator, only the board and directors. In fact the supporter ends up paying more for the privilege of watching.

But in the tiny minds of the football fan it means a lot- they get to see the highest paid workers in the country each week and get to pretend their team is important.
Also Compare the way they stayed in SL with the draw against a different team whilst we had put our opposition into the worst possible position and giants fans had more class than to throw a party following if (cf Salford).

Because I am proud of Huddersfield and the success of anyone from here.
Whether it is Town, Anita Lonsborough, Harold Wilson , Roy castle or wilf lunn.
Martians selling Smash and laughing about Huddersfield or books about Martians landing in Huddersfield.
It brings publicity and money to the town and people have heard of where I come from.
Apparently the publicity for Town has raised it,s profile and more students are now coming to the Poly. That brings money.
If you are struggling with jealousy go on the Wakey board like some of our other posters and argue with wakey fans about which of us is the crappiest team

Probably because Town weren’t expected to survive and were favourites for the drop. They battled hard to the very end, never gave up, beat some genuinely big teams, and have great - and very obvious - team spirit.
Whereas Fartown had finished first, third, third - were established as a top team challenging for silverware - and then fell apart, bickering amongst themselves, putting drinking ahead of training, showing all the fight and spirit of a deflated whoopee cushion, and limped over the line. .
One side was visibly proud to wear the blue and white stripes, the other was an embarrassment to the claret and gold hoops.
See the difference?

Tiny minds?
Grow up. We all know a lot of people who support Town who are friends or family. My dad was a Town season ticket holder for forty years, he’d have been utterly thrilled by this season. And he certainly didn’t have a tiny mind.
