Official that Symonds will be returning to Oz and has left the club. Our thoughts?

Sorry for him. It doesn’t help us much as we will have had to pay out his contract and will have to count on the cap. It frees a quota spot- but I can’t say that I’m bothered unless we can find another Seb or taai.

I'm not sure we would have paid his whole contract. He was apparently returning to be ready to play in the next few weeks, so why pay him in full when he has a chance to play again? Also the article said his wife is due to give birth soon which I'd guess he was keen to return to Australia with his family. He is a very good player when fit and I wish him all the best and hope he can continue playing back in Australia.

We possibly won’t have paid out his full contract as he had a year and a half left- but we will likely have paid the rest of this year which means we can’t use his cap money this year.

Apparently his family asked for him to be released and come home as they were worried due to threats and nasty stuff he's been sent accusing him of getting injured on purpose, there's some sick ppl out there.

I have lots of dealings with lots of players at a lot of clubs, i get to hear alsorts, that story came from an employee of the club, whether it's true or not i dunno thats why i said apparently.

I have made my opinions clear regarding Symonds. Complete waste of a signing for us, especially without the medical and right decision has been made.

That said, he was a professional bloke and obviously didn't want to be injured and did his best to get back playing.

My view is, if he carries on playing RL he could end up been a complete crock and as he's going to be a father a career change could be what's needed.

Anyone sending him personal abuse and suggesting he was injured on purpose is bang out of order.

I wish him all the best for the future and becoming a father - something way more important than RL.

Symonds was a quality player before he picked up the injury at Widnes I still think it’s not a good surface for RL and knee injuries happen more often in a contact sport where’s there’s no give in the ground.

I wish he’d been able to play but anyone writing the stuff about him on here should ask themselves one simple question

Would you have three knee operations to be off work ??
