Land of the GIANTS:

with this shirt now up for grabs who do you think SHOULD get it and who do you think WILL get it, assuming there,s no coming in.
l think the candidates are, Murphy, Wood, Gaskill, Mclntosh.

l think Wood should get it, Academy product, if good enough, here for the long haul, rewarding our youth.

l think Murphy will get it, not the best , but expierianced, safe, solid performer.

Agreed. If we aren't recruiting further then I think we should show some faith in the kids. Murph is dependable, rock solid defensively but won't offer a massive amount going forward. Don't know enough about Gaskell to warrant giving him a starting shirt and I don't see him as a natural centre.

Alternatively out of left field Oli Roberts or Bruno, Oli has played there for Ireland and that's where Bruno started his career with is. Also, if Hinchy were to play Loose then I don't see how Bruno gets game time.

Bruno started on the wing for us- he's not a centre anymore although he can do a good job there as he's just too bulky now- and his defensive talents /big engine would be completely wasted for me at centre.
I've no objection to him getting the shirt though to give him a number between 1-13 which I feel he deserves!
The number 4 shirt will likely go to whoever Stone thinks is our first choice centre.....

when i knew we were in for gaskell i thought he would be the new centre for us but alot of people say hes not a centre sooo

murphy and ormsby would seem the best option if not gaskell at centre and murphy to continue on the wing

sam wood good back up

wardles brother too?

Bruno is too hefty for a centre, and as jools has said his best point is his tackling, should be a sub for me to stiffen the defense when needed. I.f your going to shift a forward to centre it wants to be Roberts

Tom symonds came as a back row / centre if we are going to move a forward he the one for me . but i would use murphy or wood.
in an ideal world i like us to sign a hooker and a centre . hooker bring the most needed as we a very short in that department

Murphy is absolutely not a centre

For money it'd be Gaskell or Wood in the 4 spot

sorry code Murphy played centre at wakey Gaskell is a 1/2 or fullback Wood not ready to play a full season at centre can see him and young wardel playing some games this year and playing well . for me we are heading down the same road as last year this squad to small yes we will be fitter and play more as a team but there is a major lack of cover in key areas i e 1/2 back hooker .only 3 1/2 and 1 hooker in the squad is going to a problem

Bruno for me does not have the skills , l could be wrong but being a forward for so long, they will have been knocked out of him, l don,t know the ages of posters here , but if you think his physique is a problem, you never saw Paul Newlove.
l,d still give it to Wood.

I know Murphy played at Wakey, he has for us as well but that doesn't mean he is a centre

Bruno played centre for us, but he isn't one now

Murphy is a good, solid winger and a makeshift fullback but he lacks strength and the skill to be a centre, he's one of my favourite players don't get me wrong but he isn't our answer at 4, or 1 and I think Ormsby is a better 5

I remember Sam Wood playing opposite Gelling when we played Wigan down at our place, and he handled Gelling very well indeed. In fact as good as any centre I saw last season as Gelling had a good season. But he got very little or no game time for the rest of the season. Basing him on defending against Gelling ,I think he is worth a go this season.
