| I know there has been a lot of talk on another thread about the atmosphere at the Galpharm and a singing section has been mentioned on a few occasions. The HGSA is a group which represents the supporters of Huddersfield Giants and we could ask the club about the posablity of a singing section if there is a demand. So please have a vote on what you think and add any comments.
Together we are Giant

| You need to sit near middle. Can't hear you at back, especially the dumb chants like claret and gold army which sounds so quite compared to the great Barmy army chant.
I am a chanter at away games but at home I sit quite in middle because I feel uncomfortable as do many people I know who sit near me. Only problem is season ticket seats. So come a challange cup match at home (if we have one) try sit near middle and give it a test. Maybe next season lets all get behind the sticks who want to chant. Would be closer together and maybe get that away day feeling!

| People who sit next to the tunnel will not come across to the other stand. We can't move further down as other fans will complain about us swearing chating standing up etc. I would love to see it work but i cant see it working

| Im at rugby and im passionate about the giants winning so i will stand up and swear and so will other people. Everyone is passionate and bet you are but you show it in different ways but i show it that way so thats something il always do is stand up. Swearing i would stop if kids was around near me but i will always stand up and shout

| I'm passionate too- but I don't stand up(if there are seats) and swear -there is absolutely no need. News for you nathaniel it's rugby league- kids are always about.
That sort of behaviour is the reason people don't join in-they don't want to be associated with it.
In answer to the poll -if it consists of those that were chanting and swearing at Wakefield then no thanks-not the image of giants supporters I want to advertise to others.

| When voting i think people need to lok at the wider picture . It is not just what you want but what will be BEST for the club and other fans. Atmosphere is the ONLY thing the Giants currently lack

| Does it really matter if people sing or not?
Regardless of how 'vocal' each of our supporters are, the one thing we all have in common is that we all shout and cheer when we score or look like scoring, when a big shot goes in, when the ref makes a bad decision, when Eorl gets brought off after a 79 minute spell etc...
Surely this natural and unpredictable show of emotion creates more atmosphere and mean more to the players??
Oh, I agree with the swearing bit as well - when our 'singing section' at Wakey started with the swearing chant it was all a bit embarrassing. Standing is a bit more contentious though. I tend to jump up when we are near to the line or a very bad call, but maybe that is because the people in front of me have stood up. From another point of view, I go with my dad who is getting on in years and can't jump up as quick as everyone else, so he gets really frustrated that he misses an important play or score. Similarly with my young lad who I am constantly lifting in the air - it's a good as a work out for me going to a Giants game!!
Maybe segregation is the way - a stand for the singers, a stand for the standers, a place for the swearers (maybe the corporate boxes so they can be shut it!), a stand for the bovril drinkers etc...

| In a way we have a singing section and its been in place since August 1994, at the back of the Kilner bank stand......the singers from the Fartown/Leeds road days originally went up there to try and generate what atmosphere we could and also to not sit among those people who didnt want to sing therefore not annoy them.
Over the years many of us originals are still there(some with our kids these days) along with the new generation who know that if they want to sing and make noise during the game then the place to go is the back of the Kilner.
I like sitting where i sit - i have done for 18 years and we do it because we are more tolerant of each other regarding shouting and swearing....although i do tell people not to swear as their are kids up there too....to avoid upsetting people further down the stand who dont wish to be subjected to singing and shouting.
Its not about where the singers sit its more to do with the willingness of others to join in when the songs do start up.
Those that want to sing but feel uneasy where they are are more than happy to come up to the back and the more people that sing at the back will raise the volume and therefore persuade others further down to join in which they tend to do when there is a large vocal backing anyway.
At the end of the day if you want to sing at games then do it ....its not a crime, but i will not move from where i've been sat for 18 years, and the thought of having to 'manufacture' a specific area where people can sing doesn't appeal to me one bit.
Sorry if that doesn't fit well but thats my stand on it !!.

| Agree about the swearing at the Wakey game ...although it wasn't the singers in general it was a couple of folk who had had 1 too many beers but plenty told them to cut the swearing and they did.
i dont like songs that contain swearing as like i said we do have a few younger fans at the back too and will shout my discouragment when those said chants start....sing all ya like guys but no swearing please!

| Going to a rugby match doesn't give anyone an excuse to stand and swear get "passionate" about their team!
The singing section at Town games attracts the worst kind and like sheep many follow. It's not a atmosphere generator it's a place where absent minded idiots congregate and use it as an excuse to bend the rules and if they don't get their way they then use it as an excuse "but we're supposed to be creating an atmosphere"! Many decent Town fans avoid this area like the plague! The best atmosphere created at that stadium is when all the stands are singing not just a corner! So I can't see how a specific section created would help at all!!
