Nathan Brown launched an extraordinary attack on rugby league match officials after watching his side claim their first win at Headingley since October 1960.

Leeds prop Ryan Bailey and Huddersfield loose forward Luke O'Donnell were both sent off midway through the first half after an all-in brawl sparked by Bailey's off-the-ball challenge on Kevin Brown.

Referee Ben Thaler first dismissed Bailey before giving O'Donnell, complete with ripped shirt, his marching orders.

O'Donnell increased the temperature by goading Leeds fans on his way off the field but Brown was left outraged by what he'd seen.

Brown raged: "It was disgraceful. Luke O'Donnell has run in and hasn't thrown a punch. Kevin Brown got hit late (by Bailey), which the referee saw, then he got picked up and punched. Luke should have run in and knocked him (Bailey) out. That's what he should have done.

"If key players get hit late, you're supposed to get frigging sent off. It's an absolute disgrace. The officials have got to start doing something about it or you've got to tell your players to do it.

"He's actually playing well too is Bailey, but the sh*t in his game… O'Donnell should have knocked him out cold and given him some more.

"Next time we're playing, if they start hitting Kevin high, that's what I'll be instructing Luke to do unless the officials start growing some cahoonas and do something about it. It's the third frigging week in a row.

"You've got an obligation to protect your players. If my players did it, I'd expect them to get sent off. It's a frigging disgrace."

wow!!!! actually think hes right though, if no one will protect the backs what else can you do! hopefully LOD will not get a ban if this is the case. must be right though if brown stating it after such a good win!

hes got it spot on imo it was obvious that leeds tatics in the 2nd half was to take kev out and if thaler had been owt of a ref he could and should have sorted the tackle before the brawl when brown was taken late , but he bottled it and paid the penalty on the next tackle, shocking performance overall from thaler for me, i thought we were reffed and still won, so its not a case of sour grapes, think lod should get sos but will probably get 1 match.

I note that NB says LO'D should have knocked Bailey out, but I hope O'Donnell does not play when we play Rhino's as it's the last game of the regular season.

The last thing we want is to go into the play off's (If we make them) with LO'D banned.

May have to play him if we need a win to make the play off's though .

Crumbs - that'll have taken the heat off Agar, whatever he gets on Monday will be tempered by this as they'll have to raise the bar accordingly.

Well done, Nathan. Will Cummings get the message now? And will Bailey finally get his ban? I thought Child put Hull and Cas players at risk 2 weeks ago, seems to be a growing trend.

O'donnell should have murdered the coward.......absolutely no place in RL for scum like him !!

nathan is quite right about the late tackles on the creative players going unpunished.at least if mason or lod do take it further and get sent off, browny isnt going to look bad on them and keep them out of team
