| just heard from a mate in the examiner office that we should expect to hear somthing regarding his future in the next day or so.... Wigan board think he could be moving there, either at the end of the season or now????? Could we be needing to off load to get under the salery cap with DB recently arriving?

| I believe that the rumour is that we are already under investigation regarding salary cap
and that it is about to be made public along with wigan and warrington also under investigation

| Kevin Brown is contracted to 2012.
He pledge his future to Giants on 29th April in rlExaminerrl
The RFL have a live system in place so this should potentially stop people from going over?
If so, how the heck has this happened? and to lose Kevin as suggested is a huge blow and I mean huge.

If we've learned anything in the past few weeks it's that contracts aren't worth a jot.Pinocchio would have been proud of some of the rubbish that has been spouted lately....

| Brown will not just be released to go to Wigan though. Fair enough for a homesick Aussie but not for a homesick Wiganer. If it is on.
ATEOTD I'm past caring now and wont be worrying about rumours. There's been so much bad news recently I'm building up a resistance. The club will surely know what effect this would have on the speccies and we keep saying the club aren't stupid. So for the moment I'm going to stay on that line and say the club aren't stupid. How long I'll be on this line is not certain...

| I think losing Brown would be an absolute disaster.
For me Brough is not in the same league. Giants are also very light on half backs in the squad.
Can't work out why he would want to go to Wigan though.
1 Sam Tomkins is at 6 and he is one of the few players who Brown would not displace. As a centre Brown is nowhere near as good a player.
2 When Kev left Wigan his confidence was shot and the fans saw him as a laughing stock.

| Totally agree. The fans gave Brown some right stick at Wigan but here he has been support all the way down the line.

| Maybe the news is good news - maybe the club recognise they need to keep some stability within the core of the team and with Brough on a 4year deal, Roobo haivng signed a new deal they have used some of the freed funds from Brett to make Brown a deal he cannot afford to refuse? May Lunt will be the next person to sign too if there is extra cash on the table?
Obviously losing Brett and Brown is not good but if they are to be replaced internally (Leroy/Elliot and Anderson) then there is extra salary cap space and capital (respectively) to be shared around.

Salary cap is live. Any signings would have been blocked by the RFL - we had to prove any deal would keep us under the salary cap.

| this is the same RFL that cannot work out for three weeks that a player is cup tied. What chance have thay got of been up to date with salary cap issues.

The onus is on us to provide them with the information so we can sign the player. Within the space in the cap available we would be able to make the signing.
Besides Richard Thewlis has short arms and long pockets.

Was just about to post point 2 myself. I can understand how rumours generate and DB signing was always going to generate questions about other players but from Brown's point of view, he showed promise at Wigan and they decided to invest in overseas players instead of local youth for a while. Huddersfield picked up a couple of players at that time and each seem to have flurished at Giants where they were going down hill at Wigan. Why would the best of that bunch want to go back?
It's not like it's a real travel issue to get from Huddersfield to Wigan if he wants to be nearer home (assuming he or family still lives there)
Unless he particularly wanted to come to Wakefield (ok you don't have to comment ) I 'd say Giants is the best place for him.

| Brough isn't a stand off either. Brown is clearly our stand off, he likes playing stand off and definitely prefers it to centre. He's playing well and whilst Wigan are going great guns right now and we've had a poor couple of weeks for various reasons our season is hardly up yet.
