Quote: "Huddersfield Giants and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats can confirm that they have completed a deal which will allow scrum half Danny Brough to join the Giants.

Following protracted negotiations, the compensation package that has been agreed between the two Engage Super League clubs sees Brough join the Giants with immediate effect until the end of the 2014 Super League season.

As part of that package Wakefield Trinity Wildcats will receive an undisclosed financial settlement and they have signed prop forward Michael Korkidas on a long term loan basis and utility forward Danny Kirmond on a shorter term loan.

The Giants loaned Greek international Korkidas to the Wildcats last year and he has continued to play at Wakefield on the same basis. He is now contracted to remain at the Hearwell Stadium until the end of the 2011 season.

Kirmond, who joined Huddersfield from Featherstone Rovers in 2007, will join Wakefield on loan until the end of the 2010 season.

Danny Brough commented, “I’m glad that all the speculation has now ended and my future is settled. I would like to thank the Wakefield club and their fans for their support of me. I like to think that I have contributed to their rise up the table to the point where they are now sitting in the top part of the league on a regular basis.

“In particular I have enjoyed working with John Kear who has been great to me for a long time. I felt ready for a new challenge at a new club and in Huddersfield with Nathan Brown I think the opportunity presents itself for me to play in big games.

“The Huddersfield squad is very strong and I’m looking forward to getting stuck into training with them and trying to force my way into the team.”

Nathan Brown commented “I’ve admired Danny’s game since I came to the UK and it will be fantastic to be able to work with him and integrate him into our team over the coming weeks and months. Out and out half backs with outstanding kicking games and genuine speed are becoming a rarity, so he will give us another string to our bow in the squad.”

John Kear, the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats Head Coach, said

Glad to finally be sorted. Lets wipe the slate clean of all the negative stuff and judge him on his performances and the perfomance of the team with him in it. Welcome on board Danny. The only way is up!

Welcome aboard Danny Boy.

I am absolutely chuffed at this signing and feel more excited about it than any of our signing this year or last including Brett or fa alogo.

Danny brings the best kicking game of any player in SL to the Giants. Kicking in the modern game is probably the most important thing in a teams nal. Strong Australian type defences are much harder to break down and a good kicking game is what helps to unlock those defences. Danny does that.

But he is also quicker than our half backs and when he gets into his stride can easily go the length of the field. Added to his passing ability he really will add the extra spice that our attack has lacked in the last couple of years. additionally we now have 3 key pivots Brett, Brown and danny , in the team who all offer vision and skill and which will keep our opponents defence guessing. It will not be a case of clamp down on one player or kicker but they wil have to watch 3.

We will be a better attacking outfit with him in the team. defensively for a half back he is quite strong head and sholders above the like of Myler etc.

As for Robbo i genuinely think he will be playing in his best position at hooker. In concentrating on running at tired forwards at interchange his best asset will be emphasised.

Whilst some may question dannys attitude he is a spiky character but he wants to win . he reminds me off Bobbie Goulding , Lee Briers or even Roy Keane in that respect he wants to win. With Brett on the pitch to calm him down i am not concerned about this.

Whilst there have been off field problems he took his punishment re the drinking incident well ( unlike Scully) and as for financial difficulties his success on the pitch wil be his salvation and i am sure he will be a better person for coming through adversity.

If the club had any doubts about these issues they would not have signed him. Thewlis knows him well and Brown has shown his ability to manage difficult situations and discipline well.
Ken has paid the money to make sure he comes here.

I have no doubt about their judgement.

I have never felt so positive about the Giants as i have now, after this signing.

So Ken has paid a fee. NB must've been very keen to sign him now rather than the end of the season for him to go back on what he said at the fans forum.
I hope Kirmond gets some first team action at Wakey to aid his rehabilitation. I definitely want to see him back at the Giants next season though.
Let's hope Brough's arrival doesn't adversely affect the squad and we can push on from here.

Best 7 in the league IMO. Not just a runner like Eastmond, Burrow et al. Hudds now have more creativity than any other SL team. A very good chance of getting to the Grand Final (and that is from a trin supporter!!).

Agree with this. I think KD and NB did not fancy getting into a bidding war with other teams at the end of the season when Dannys contract was up because i think quite a few teams in SL and possibly the NRL would have been in for him. I think it made sense for hudds to do business now rather than later.

Danny Brough is a good player and will go well in your ever improving side. We will miss him at Wakey but life goes on!

Good luck, its nice to see someone other than Leeds and Saints at the top, but would be even better if we could manage to take a couple of points off you!!

You shouldn't look at beating a specific team - you should look at picking points up on them. For example this weekend you have a great chance to pick up points against Warrington where we lost. That's the most important aspect - remember we have to play Wigan 3 times this year, where you get an easy winnable game against Leeds.

I hope this one works.

He certainly has a spark of genius on occasion. Although for me Robbo has been our best player this season (albeit with most of his best work around the ruck).

Not sure where it leaves Grix but I suppose he is a utility and it surely means that Drew will be very much an occasional starter.

Finally Danny must be a shoe in for the mantle of Giants ugliest player !

I wonder when his debut will be ?
