Having a small club mentality is what cost us the cup final. Bottling it and trying not to lose instead of trying to win, almost as if we could not believe it was happening. We do have a very short term strategy at the moment with Niagama, Jerry, Cudjoe, McQueen, Hill, Leutele all 32+. I would really like to see some higher quality signings that were more for the mid to long term, look at what Warrington are doing in that regard at the moment. We have already lost one quality player (Wardle) because we persisted with Cudjoe in the centres. I agree he has had a really good year, but you really do have to have one eye on the future and it was pretty obvious that a player who was being selected for England was not going to hang around being back up for his own club.

Warrington are hardly signing youngsters other than their own already on the books. Dudson 32 Vaughan 31 McGuire 32, Kasiano 31 Matautia 31 Ratchford 34 (new 2 years deal). Dufty is young but has probably come over because he can't get an NRL contract.

Never in a million years would I have done the swap deal that sent Wardle to Wire, I'm still pretty angry at it now tbh.

Wardle clearly didn’t want to wait- well more fool him because right now he’s be playing for a top three side instead of a bottom three one. When he did get a chance earlier in the season he was unlucky with injuries (again) and then didnt play himself into the shirt. And look at who was at fault defensively for the try that put KR in front yesterday- yes it was a great try but …….
Watson obviously didn’t think he had the right mentality. He’s been pretty spot on in that regard so far hasn’t he! If he was unhappy then Watson did right to move him on we do t want any bad apples upsetting a happy camp.
Do you think wire have got it right ?- this kind of recruitment is exactly the same as what’s failed for them so far and it smacks of desperation to me. We have a great mix of youth and experience. The youth mostly our own.
Forget wardle he clearly doesn’t want to play for us, I’d rather have an OB who has been patient and will step up and perform when asked, or a matty English who will put aside a disappointment of missing the semi final and the loss of his place to Wilson and then run his blood to water on the pitch when he does get a shot. Because right NOW those are the type of players that will give us any chance of mixing it with the big guys- Watson recognises this.

Our forwards are great, no doubt and we have some fantastic young ones, but the halves and backs are the worry, they are ageing, or imo not good enough for the level required, this is where i would like to see us strengthen.
