Really tough this as all have improved and are playing well. Most improved Gaskell - best so far tricky as plenty have missed games but will go with Darnall who has been consistently good for mine.

For someone who seems to go unnoticed, Clough has his fair share of admirers on here! Quite right too.

As mentioned by others, he has been a consistent performer throughout this turbulent season - a solid, dependable presence in the middle of the park with a strong work-rate. He has made more metres than any other forward at the club (only behind Jerry & Rankin overall) and has made the second most tackles. He also makes few errors and gives few penalties away.

Clough would get my vote.

Surprised Matty English hasn't been mentioned yet? He always makes yards even after contact and doesn't miss many tackles when defending. One of the smaller SL forwards but plays without fear and has been knocking seasoned pros over for fun. Okay he hasn't played a massive amount of games but whenever he's been on the field he's never let us down, unlike some earlier in the season. He gets my vote.

As with many youngsters he’s had a good first season. He’s not the finished article yet isn’t matty. More to come fro. Him I think.
