This is something that is testable. It is either true or not.
Sports medicine is a fairly mainstream thing. Their will be plenty of academic papers that cover this topic. One would hope that the coaching staff are familiar with the latest research.'"
Some players will be more robust than others. Some heal quick some not so much. Sports medicine is mainstream- but not so much research pertaining to RL.
I have an ex colleague who did some research on behalf of the RFL when they were potentially looking at having regional academies. He was looking at preparation of the academy lads and how different approaches affected their fitness-robustness is very difficult to measure due to all the external factors.
Woolford and Andrews seem to think that the injuries we’ve had in the last few years have been down to poor preseason preparation.
We didn’t replace Greg Brown (well we did, but the guy left when the club wouldn’t take on board things as he suggested- such as buying and wearing specific footwear for doing weights etc, he left after a very short time). We had a rookie doing it since-and we’ve had a lot of injuries since. Coincidence? Perhaps.
