Echoing the sentiments above, my grandad believed Pat Devery to be the best centre he ever saw.
He never did anything dirty or questionable on the pitch - he didn't need to. As Ken says in the obituaries, a real gentleman. Whilst (far!) too young to have witnessed his talents on the pitch, I can testify to this. When we were first promoted to the Super League Mr Devery was in the country and took time out of his schedule to visit my terminally ill grandad. We still treasure the card he wrote for him.
