Canada is indeed a wonderful country. But...
Playing for Toronto means splitting your life between home - in Toronto, presumably - and weeks on end away in some kind of hotel when on the away leg.
Fine if you're 21 and single, but it's hell if you have kids and a family.
Trust me on this - I travel a lot with work and I'm actually sat in Geneva airport right now waiting for a flight back to Manchester - business travel is not fun. If you do a lot of it, it becomes soul destroying.
I remember a piece of work I did where I was regularly travelling to Australia and back for about three or four months. I pretty much have the constitution of an ox, but that job wrecked me and it hit every bit of my life. It's just about tolerable for a short project, but to commit to it for years - no chance.
I wouldn't want to play for Toronto regardless of their prospects as a team and a club. The travel is just a killer. A man like Ukuma Ta'ai, with a young family, would have to really think carefully about the lifestyle he'd be leading and the effect it would have on him, his wife, and their kids.
My honest advice to him - which comes from hard earned experience - would be to stay well clear of it. Life is too short to spend so much of it in the air and so much of it away from home and the kids.
