I'm looking forward to next season and think we'll do quite well. Last season started badly with the preseason and players getting injured, retiring and the Huby/Ferres fallout to go with sacking our conditioner and relieving Brough of the captaincy to mention a few. Stone will have us well drilled and fit for the season start and you could see at the back end of last season that we were getting better and playing more as a team than indivually and looked a lot fitter. We have had one bad season in I don't know how many with a core group of the players still here from our recent good seasons who can kick us on again this season. I know they're only friendlies but they do go along way in how the season can pan out and winning breeds winning which installs a winning mentality overall.

It's a much nicer position to be in than we were in last year when we had a few injuries and everything went pear shaped.

Score was 12-0

I thought defensively we were strong, never looked like conceding points, offensively we looked good in parts and in others like a pre-season friendly. We look miles fitter than last season, and better organised.

Taai and Seb ran in strong, I think Tommy might be the new O'Donnell the way he didn't stand any nonsense from the Wire forwards, backs or anyone else who wanted to have a go! McIntosh was impressive, and looked assured under the high ball, both hookers played well, Hinchy is definitely better at LF.

All in all, a good run out and I feel positive about the season ahead.

PS Shannon only had about 10 mins first half and 6-7 at the end so difficult to say, but he didn't really have an opportunity to break the line as we were defending most of the time he was on, and we did alright on that front tonight!

one thing for sure is that we have competition for places in the prop department for sure and thats healthy as is the 2nd row competiton
