Will disect recent post later for discussion but to summarise
1 Think Brierley`s talents would be wasted and scuttled at full back in last line of defence (as happened with Chris Thorman) (IMO)
2 Whilst some positional changes HAVE been forced on us by injuries / suspensions agree I think there also been a tendency the club for a while to try convert players into "utility players " too hastily which meant that a consistent relationship and understanding between team members on field gets "lost"
IMO we are a critical stageof the season and its landed on a new managers plate to try resolve it with limited knowledge players individual skills and attributes , and much will depend on the information he receives and how its presented to him --hardly ideal situation in the present "do or die" circumstances IMO
But - I stress -Just my opinion! It is after all a "discussion forum I believe. Hope that helps fella'"
Brearley at FB was PAs idea - stone may not agree but the issue is he's stuck with him in our squad- and we don't hzve a true FB apart from Simpson who hasn't shown he's ready to make it at SL. Personally I don't think brearely would be any better from a defensive POV at half back, as he's going to be exposed wherever he plays due to his (lack of) size. What we have missed has been a FB who can chime into the line and create something different- and I feel brearley is THAT player.
We may well see a miss matched side again this week due to more injuries. However I would hope come the middle 8s stone will have made his mind up about where players should be playing. If Brearley is not to be our FB I just hope stone has some money to play with because I'm not sure we will have much room on the cap!
