When we won the shield he had inherited a squad and style of play from Nathan Brown having been his assistant that worked and he had barely tinkered with it until the start of this season.
He made major changes to the style of play and fitness team and methods at the start of this season which have failed unless you think 4 wins from 17 is success ??
So to answer your question in non throwaway manner - for three seasons he recognised we had a methodology that worked but but came up short of the 'big prize.'
He believed he had a new methodology that would win trophies and push us to the next level. He implemented it and it has failed as Head Coach he shoulders the responsibility for that failure as you are only as good as the season you are in or are we still going to be pointing to the Shield for the next ten years??
As in any business you have to achieve targets, goals and KPI's I would suggest he is failing or failed.
Unfortunately his blunt and forthright speaking manner works when you are always winning but doesn't look so good when you are always losing.
His team selection and rotation last night and at Widnes where he made one change in a brutal 40 minutes and left Brierley on the bench and Wood at stand off when he is a better back up hooker appeared 'clueless.' On that I won't soften my comment !!
