Just seen on the news Leeds football club have won a high court ruling resulting them being compensated for paying for police part of the match day operations but not on the grounds of the stadium.

Firstly surely if your club is the reason the city have to have extra police presence its should be the clubs responsible paying not the tax payer?

Secondly the news station gave the figure of 100000, in costs where Leeds played 47000 when Leeds played Chelsea in one of the many cups.

Thirdly they used the rhinos as a comparison. On the biggest games it costs 2500 in policing. Which is paid entirely by the club.

How football is still growing is beyond me.
A load more incidents between fans and racism
Ever increasing prices
Hardly any local or even regional faces in sides

And in my opinion
Rugby is much the superior spectacle. With a lot more happening
The teams do consist if a fair few local faces you see out and about in the towns and citys
The fans generally come in there teams colours where as a lot of football teams they don't
The players wages while still what most of us would be extremely happy with are not a million miles away unlike the millionaire footballers.
The manner in which rugby league fans conduct themselves....imagine the ethiad with 14 championship teams in.....Leeds, milwall, town, sheff wed, just those four would be hostile as hell!

Love our game and reports like these I wish would make people see our game in a better light and bring there familys down to watch there local rugby side rather than overpaid footballers!

I'm a fan of both and watch both ...but give me Rugby League over Football anyday , i cant afford to go watch my team anymore and the policing and stewarding of football games have took most of the fun out of it.... going to a football match these days is like being a prisoner, your told where to go with who when and how far you can go etc......Rugby is much better as fans all mix, even stewards and the rare police we do see are easy going with the fans too.

As an away fan for the football at the stadium i've got to see the extent of the policing involved 1st hand - its ridiculous and in many cases totally OTT and un-needed.

Totally agree! I've been saying it for years that our sport is the greatest team game to watch. How the hell football is so popular is beyond me, played by overpaid fairies diving all over the place with not a finger laid on the really does annoy me. It's basically ballet dancing with a football. I'd find any level of rugby league (even under 9's) more exciting that any level of football, even a so called 'top game'. I remember an English footballer(think he was called Butcher) some years ago playing for England who had his head bandaged up and the next day the media had pictures all over the front cover of the papers claiming him to be some kind of warrior as if he'd been to war. This happens most weeks in Rugby League yet it's never mentioned. The product on the pitch (football) is crap yet it's glamourised by the media and people buy into it. Give Rugby League the same amount of publicity and it would soon be up there competing with football figures. Until the media start plastering RL all over the papers like footy, we'll always be a minority sport. As Martin Sadler said the other night at the forum, we are good at promoting our game internally(to the converted) but too shy to do it externally to the nation.

Have you seen the advert on TV for Head and shoulders where the poor footballer can't play cos he's got dandruff. Just about sums footballers up for me.
