Oldham metrolink tram system is now open. Brand Spanking new. Drive into Oldham on A62, you will see the tram stop on the left, you dont have to go thru the town centre. There is a car park.
You can stop off in Manchester for shopping / food which is what we are doing
Trams to Eccles every 12 mins, change at Cornbrook for the Eccles line. Then get the bus to Salford stadium 3.30, 4.15, 5.00, as advertised on Giants web site
Tram ticket are cheap and the journey is interesting and comfortable -
family up to 2 adults / 3 kids - £6.20
group of 4 adults traveling together - £10
. Car, two trams and a bus. If your driving to Oldham might as well just go the whole way by car since the driver can't have a drink anyway. going on the coach us.
Metrolink option is for those wanting to spend the day in Manchester, using public transport, like we are, and is best compared to the option to go by train.
It all depends how you want to spend the day, and the composition of your party.
