| Quote Birkbygiant="Birkbygiant"38-6, yep alot of talk about the Bailey incident but lets remember that team performance last night, it was truly awesome.
The win at home to Wire was terrific in every sense but last night's demolistion of the Rhino's is one that will live long in the memory, the travelling support reminded me of the semi final win over the Saints a couple of years ago.
What a treat for any Giants fan, the defence in the first 10-15 minutes was absolutely brilliant, tackle after tackle, line speed, intensity, ferrosity of the play. Every single player in the white, with C&G spashes held their own. The Rhino's attack which is still one of the best in the league was left clueless and to be honest I didn't think they knew what else they could do.
As soon as we had the chance to attack their line we scored, and scored and scored again. Kevin Brown was instrumental and had the Rhino's defence floundering around like lost lambs to the slaughter.
Even then when the Rhino's looked like they might score just before half time, up came Simpson after returning to the field after going off earlier with a bad knock. Sinfield hit the high ball, Rhino's players following it up and Simpson as cool as you like took a running jump, cleanly took the ball, no fear, no second thoughts, just took it cleanly then got tackled in the air and the ref did nothing.
That take was the moment I thought we could do this, we could finally win at Headingley, had the Rhino's got a score just before half time they would have used it to boost their second half performance, but thanks to Simpson they didn't.
Second half and already you could see the Rhino's tactics, take out the play makers at any cost, if you can't beat them playing good footie, go dirty (akin to Wire last week in the second half).
Yet again the defence was awesome, tackle after tackle, line speed, intensity continued, what a spectacle for the masses of travelling support. The Rhinos got what they wanted a man sent off for each side, they lost Bailey we lost LO'D - clearly to the Rhino's advantage to compare the 2 is ludicrous, Leeds got the better deal!
Still the defence stood up to the battering one of the best attacks in the league gave them, set after set they held out, to be finally beaten by a Burrow special - pity would have loved to have nilled them!
In seasons past we may have folded, choked etc. but not last night - we got stronger! even going down to 11 men and held them at bay.
Every mistake was punished with us going over the line 3 more times, the hand off by Lunt rounding off a superb performance, only regret was the 80 minutes was up, could have watched that all week.
Anyone know where we can buy a DVD of the game, awesome truly awesome.

| i was a bit disappointed last night if im honest, why? because i wanted to do to leeds what we did to bradford, that is edge them out in a close fought game to break their hearts then the next year come back and wallop them, then and only then can we say we have made up for the heartbreaks and wallopings we've suffered but itwas not to be.
last week we totally dominated warrington,i didnt think we could back it up but boy did we back it up?
defence was amazing, in the 1st half leeds had a 4 on 1 overlap on our LHS with only simpson there,it was a certain try,but before you knew it, brough, lawrence and o'donnell were there in a flash and brough's ball and all tackle was outrageous and contributed significantly.leeds were totally outfought, outthought, outclassed, outplayed and outsung by the marvellous claret and golds!
superb stuff

| Great post bg.
You got the Simpson moment spot on. In 80 minutes of team games, sometimes a single act or play changes momentum, and 100 per cent credit to Simpson.
I am sure hodgson would have done equally well.....(sorry, could not resist)
I think Simpson could end up being a key signing for us.

| Cheers fellas, that post was heart felt, and thought I should summise my take on the game, the Simpson moment was a special point of the match, it showed what our lads were about.
