I know Alex Murphy is not best pleased with the current set up and was amazed he could not collect a few freebies from the club for the wigan game the other week and was told he would have to see trevor I shall not repeat his words but think back to the tv appearance when he was in the wigan changing room
Alex says he's very sad that the situation has come to this but he's had no dealings with the PPA for a long time and has only heard what we've all heard (through the press). He just hopes that matters can be settled and the PPA will at least agree to sit around the table with the board to sort it out.

| All easily resolved, charge them 50 quid for a season and give them passes to the room in the back of the west

| I'm not sure they'd go for that Ste, the fact that the club wanted to charge them £40 a season to go in the big room is what kicked up all the fuss in the first place.

I'm baffled.
PPA who allegedley love the club and want to support it through its current difficulties don't want to pay admission, discounted admission with perks thrown in that is.
IMO we are better without that sort of PPA, start a new one - West seats, access to Bar with food thrown in £100 a season. We all worship these lads for their efforts in the shirt, its fantastic for them to feel special and part of the clubs future - but the clubs genorisity has been abused in the past at HP, so at LSV lets do it right as a partnership

OAP's tickets are £90? give them for £50 ... let them in the bar behind and i think its reasonable. Plus if theres 10 buying its an easy 500 quid in the kitty

| Yeah it's a bit of a minefield eh?
Do we ever have any PPA's from other clubs coming to the LSV?
Did/does our PPA go to other clubs? (before the fall out I mean)
Surely a club can't be expected to pay for all these people?
I honestly don't know how it works, but I'd like to find out.

| was discussing the PPA last night in the pub, and someone made a reasonable comment that i must admit made me think about.
How many of the PPA actually played for leigh? (a question i could not answer)
Is it not for past players who come from leigh regardless of club? (again i could not answer)
As the person who raised this question is under the impression that there are members who never played for leigh?
I hope a solution can be found regarding genuine past players.

| I do know that Leigh Past Players Association is for players who've played for Leigh regardless of where they come from.
I also know that they have at least one member who's never played for Leigh but has dedicated his life to the club and helped them out in many ways in the past.
Hope that helps to answer a couple of your questions.

| It's a long time since a thread subject had 13 pages of comments. I have read them all and most of them have made really good points. I tried to find out about other PP Associations but unfortunately I was only able to establish the situation at Widnes speaking to one of their members. Widnes PP Association is open to all players who have played in the first team. They also have 'associate members' who have been involved with the Club but without pLaying, i.e. long serving Director, Kit man, etc. Widnes PP pay £1,500 to the Club and get 24 season tickets, plus 2 tables in the lounge upstairs (no food) Apparently 80% of active members are OAP.
Leigh PP have been a strong association in the past, but their numbers have fallen. At Hilton Park PP were entitled to apply for a season pass by paying £10 a season (this later became £20) but I undertand this stopped last season.
At the time the long established PP were having their dispute with the £40 charge being made for going into the banqueting suite a few of the 'younger' past players were invited to the Club and used a box from time to time. Jason Donohue was one who attended and he tried to encourage other younger PP to become involved. Jason insists that at that time he was not aware of the existing PP Association. Obviously the existing PPA were hurt when they read that some more recent PP were getting access to upstairs and presumably made their point hence the ill feeling that currently exists.
Trevor Barton has said he would be glad to meet them, whether that invite was in writing to them I'm not sure, but if he gets his Secretary to write officially to the Secretary (Bob Shuttleworth) or their Chairman (Maurice Bailey) then it will come up at their next meeting - presuming they still have them, and hopefully he will get a favourable reply which may well be the beginnig of sorting it.

Thanks for that insight.
Last bit (re TB) sounds promising - hope it is sorted for the good of the club and it's supporters (past and present). It's not just on here that it's been debated in depth but also on Leigh Life:

| Trevor did write to them, inviting them for a chat about the issues, but they declined his invitation. I believe he is going to try again though.
